food for 9pm reception?

What kind of food would you serve at this hour? My reception is going to begin at around 845-9pm. I am planning on having a dessert bar/beer/wine. Would several hor d'oeuvres be ok at this hour instead of a full meal?

I'm Latina and will tell you that our traditional weddings can likely start that late and can go on to 3am. I am having a very hard time finding venues that will let the party go on to 12... I am ok to settle for 11pm (w a broken heart) but the truth is I realize I have to be considerate to all my guests and not all my guests are Latino. But also culturally we must serve a full dinner no matter what time of the day! I'm not sure what your background is, but do you think your guests will really be ok w just apps? Especially after an hour ceremony?

I'm on team full meal.. like previously stated, if your wedding is more than 2 hours, you need to serve a meal.

Agree on the full meal. I don't care what time it starts - you need to serve a full meal. Particularly since it sounds like you're not having a cocktail hour.
