Food strategy for evening meal

Mob For Keely & Aaron, on April 1, 2019 at 11:58 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 13
Steak in itself is expensive and from everything I have read, it is by far the most popular choice.
The in house caterer has a few options but thinking of reaching out before going to the tasting and seeing if they can make sirloin skewers as an option in the Mediterranean themed plated meal.
Steaks run 16 dollars more than the Mediterranean Chicken.
I like your thoughts, would marinated sirloin skewers be considered a good beef option? Would it be not elegant, tasteful enough?
Trying to make 2 deserving young people’s dream come true here but trying to cut down cost on some options.

We had a similar issue and went with London broil in a red wine reduction sauce so that we had a red meat option.

Beef short ribs are dee-lish and should be cheaper!

Or what about a beef stroganoff (filet mignon beef tips I think with egg noodles, mushrooms & and an amazing cream sauce)? Just have another meat & veggie dish without dairy and pasta/gluten for any folks with those allergies.

I think if you go with a fully Mediterranean this is fine. Rice, potatoes, greek salad and tzatziki.

I think that beef skewers are a bit messy for a wedding. A short rib may be a good alternative to steak.

I almost always choose the beef option, but I’m not bothered if there isn’t one.

I am allergic to beef so I would obviously prefer the chicken choice however, not everyone is. I would suggest that you go with what you want. No one is going to care if you don't have T-bone steaks at your wedding. You know what your budget is and you know your crowd better than anyone else. I think having the skewers would be just fine. They can be eaten with utensils if anyone is worried about them being too messy.

    We are having c

herb baked chicken and London Broil. Try the London Broil instead of the steak. And I also agree with pp. If you go all Mediterranean you can do the skewers

We are having filet mignon and herb baked chicken but if you have a theme go with the skewers just make sure that its enough to be filling for people

I wouldn't mind if it was some other beef option! Unfortunately we just simply can't afford to feed our guests the beef option. It's $10 more pp for short ribs of beef and $15 more for steak and that's just too much of a stretch for over 100 guests. Your skewers and theme sound nice to match up well anyway!

After reading through I started thinking about the braised short ribs that was suggested . We have a very expensive celebrity caterer in our area, who has that on his menu where I live. We happened to taste his braised short ribs at a bridal fair, the dish was fantastic but the 30k cater bill (I inquired at the time)I could do without! I do know too that they can be had for considerably less and will ask the in house caterer if this is a possibility. I believe ribs paired with polenta, we can make it work for the themed dinner.
Thank you all for replying! Best wishes!

I agree with the short ribs! They could do them with a Mediterranean dipping sauce too which would be so yummy!

We are skipping the beef option and just having chicken vegetarian options, but that's just us. I think the skewers or short ribs sound fine.
