Food tasting tomorrow!

Lisa, on June 7, 2017 at 10:11 AM Posted in Planning 0 10

Ok, getting excited that this is getting close enough that we are tasting and deciding on food. Anything I should keep in mind for this?

    We are having our food tasting tomorrow as well. What do you plan on tasting? My only advice is to be honest with the chef. If you don't like something or aren't sure of anything, definitely let them know and ask questions. Food is super important to me, so I definitely plan on being honest on what I like and don't like.

    My tasting is tomorrow too for a caterer we're very interested in! I have a whole list of questions but mine are very specific to my vision (if hey have gold flatware,certain color linens) but you can google some caterer questions! Also go hungry!

    I think it is kind of everything but the cake. We have a package deal with the venue so we have to select which of the options to use.

    @Sabrina: Have fun tomorrow!

    Take pictures, write notes for each course/dish and be honest with the chef.

    @Lisa, same to you! Also, ask about options. Our venue said that the chef can prepare "anything" so if you have a favorite food or have a vision of what your guests may want to eat, talk to the chef about it and see what your options are.

    Make sure you're hungry. We had leftovers for 2 days from our tasting, and we had my mom, FMIL, FFIL, FH and myself tasting the food.

    We ended up having a guest RSVP with some super duper severe food allergies. Each time I've been to their house I never noticed the types of food/preparation. I'd ask them what the do with severe food allergies and ask for some sample recipes/preparation. For us we had gluten free issues and then the super severe allergies.

    Yes, go hungry!! It was such a fun time. We went with my mom and they sat us in this great table that looked out onto the beach (from the 12th story). We did have some things we didn't care for and had to make a blind pick on our chicken dish (it turned out fine - we went with Marsala). Do you know what all you'll be tasting?

    -bring a pen and paper for notes

    -ask questions, even if it's for the smallest thing.

    -ask if food can be cooked longer / seasoned to fit your taste. Odds are, they can do it.

    -ask to taste the wine selection!

    -talk with FH throughout the way and be willing to compromise based on individual tastes.

    -take photos of the food! You'll soon forget how that played meal looks.
