Food tasting.

Hi everyone. When you were choosing a caterer and the only communication was online, did you ask to do a tasting? I’ve been talking to this caterer for a while, they sent me a proposal and everything looks good price wise it’s in our budget. I guess I’m just wondering if I should try to set up a tasting now or just pay? Thanks.

I would never book a caterer without tasting first. There are many past posts via the search feature where brides mentioned they had a bad tasting, which all inclusive venues don’t let you have until after you sign the contract and are stuck at that point. A tasting is representative of what you will get on the wedding day and it’s not something to leave up to chance or commit to blindly. For the same reason you would never buy a car without a test drive or house without a physical walk through.

Hi Taylor! We had a food tasting included as part of our catering package after we booked our venue (which does the food in-house!) This tasting wasn't to vet their food for catering, but tasting their different hors d'oeuvres and entrees to choose which ones we were going to have on our menu!
