Food Truck Catering

Drew & Juliessa, on February 18, 2022 at 4:37 PM Posted in Planning 10 9

I came across and idea to have a food truck at my wedding. I was looking around on some websites and I could find any pricing. Does anyone know how much food trucks cost?

This will depend on the truck and how many guests you have. The trucks in my area usually do weddings the same way regular catering companies do. They charge a per person price and you select a smaller menu for your guests to choose from than what the trucks offer on the road.

I've also heard of food trucks having a minimum. Some friends of ours own a winery and they had an event at which there was a food truck and they had to guarantee a certain number of sales (obviously, as hosts, you would just pay the up-front amount and hope that people ate enough to make it worth what you spent on it.

Another thing about the food truck is that it's not necessarily going to go very fast, so people may be waiting a long time for food. Could be a delicious idea though.

Try the thumbtack app. You should be able to find some with prices listed in your area.

It’s really going to depend. Are you having a fixed menu??? Definitely call some trucks you are interested in and see if they will work. We considered having a truck but after talking with a few I realized that it wasn’t logical for my wedding size and wouldn’t really save me any money. However there were several places I would have liked to explore more if we were having a smaller wedding!

Generally if they don’t list prices, they are out of your budget. What are you looking for specifically? Be aware that many food trucks are not able to feed everyone at the same time. So you will have one group done eating before another group is served. This is especially true if you go with the typical trucks found at fairs and festivals. They have been in business for decades and still can only serve 1-2 people at a time, which won’t work if you have more than 25 guests.

Roaminghunger.com lists food trucks in the area but you have to contact each one to find out pricing and menus. It may be in your best interest to get in touch with a local casual restaurant you and fiancé love and ask them for catering options. Many will serve food in large foil pans that sit in a regular chafing dish and guests can serve themselves buffet style or you can hire staffing from thumbtack.com to serve the buffet. That way everyone is fed at the same time. It’s also more and better food than a regular catering company at a fraction of the price.

It will only be good for cocktail hours unless they can feed ppl quickly without someone guest being overlook. And ask them what you want for the guest to be served and see if they can accommodate those with food allergies and foods they cant have. We are doing an buffet so they choose from American food too maybe Italian foods

It depends on the food truck but they typically also have a travel fee on top of that. If they have a website contact or phone number that’s how I got a hold of mine. A coworker of mine that used one walked up to the truck and asked

How many guests are you planning to have? If you have more than around 20 there will be people waiting a long time for food. Even at 1 minute per person that's an hour for the last person in line if you have 60 guests.

Hi, it depends on the type of food truck (with Mexican being more cost effective than say seafood), number of servings/guests, travel, and menu customization. There are Apps like FoodTruckBooking.com or even Thumbtack that can get you quotes based on your vision. I'm a Wedding Planner & Day Of Coordinator and currently have a wedding in a funky venue and we're doing food trucks for everything from cocktails to entrees to desserts. I'll be glad to provide ideas if you reach out to me. Good Luck!
