Food truck wedding

Stephanie , on January 29, 2016 at 8:48 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 37

So I'm serving dinner from a food truck.. they are providing everything and serving from food boats. So I don't know what to put on my tables! My guests don't need plates or anything so I would feel weird doing place settings.. are centerpieces enough?

I think that centerpieces would be enough. Do they need utensils or would that be given when they get their food? How about napkins, drinks, etc. You still will have place settings it seems.

It should all be available at the truck. I thought about doing water and tea glasses.. but I thought it might seem out of place without plates? And maybe too formal for what I am going for

Well, how else would they get their drink?

We'd still have cups of course, lol. But have them handed out at the truck/bar, depending on their drink choice

I would still have a place setting... they need napkins and utensils and drinks. Maybe they can just get the food from the truck and everything else at the table?? I don't know i never heard of only food truck food or been to a wedding that did this.

How much can a person carry, back from the truck? Plates of food, I understand, but I wouldn't want to have to also carry back cutlery, napkins, drinks, etc.

Stephanie- I would put the drinks on the table. Having someone carry their drink and food to the table, that's a pain.

Hm.. good points. But I'm doing a cocktail "hour" before guests go to their seats so shouldn't they already have drinks before dinner?

One drink for all of dinner? There should at least be water on the table or available. Yes, my guests had "drinks" from the cocktail hour, but we also had water and tea available for dinner. Not everyone wants to wash down dinner with liquor.

Why couldn't they refill their drinks? I'm not saying water and tea won't be available.. they just won't have to carry everything all at once.

It's not a formal sit down dinner, obviously. It will be mostly finger foods and self serve. I just think formal place settings would look out of place at my casual shin-dig. I wouldn't mind putting something in place of plates and such but I wouldn't know what

Okay. It's whatever you want. You're obviously being difficult here. I am just trying to get across that there needs to be separate glasses for water/tea than the liquor, beer bottle, or whatever they have from cocktail hour. You don't really have to put them on the table if you don't want to, just have them accessible.

My wedding was DIY, I did not put the glasses on the table. I had silver plastic cups that I stuck next to the water/tea dispensers and they got their drinks before they went to the buffet.

Okay, I understand completely. Then just have the centerpieces, it will be fine. I went to an outdoor wedding and that is all she had since we used paper plates from the buffet.

I was at a wedding like that. There was nothing on the table but flowers. It was a DIY event. I would've appreciated snacks on the table since it took the truck 2 hours to serve the guests.

"they just won't have to carry everything all at once."

Threads like this would make me so happy for plated service. I'd get tired of serving/fending for myself pretty quickly.

VM - I was going off your "Okay. It's whatever you want. You're obviously being difficult here."

Beach babe- I was just laughing at you saying "I'd get tired of serving/fending for myself " ...I wasn't being snarky. Yeah, she was. Everything I said she had something to say back. I was just trying to get her to see the bigger picture. haha

I don't see how I'm being difficult? I'm sorry I had questions about what you said? Apparently this isn't the place to ask questions..

VM - Yeah, another one of those "I'm going to do it this way" threads, and when people offer suggestions for guest comfort or more functional ideas, they're just shot down.

Reminds me of the rented venue for 80 guest for $200, Breakfast at Tiffany's thread, of last night, which ended up being a vow renewal, and over all cluster bleep. Ha ha!

P.S. My Dad is disabled, my Mom has a bad back, my grandmother is 90. When we all went to an outdoor/casual wedding, a few years ago, I felt like a waitress. Luckily I didn't wear heels, since most of the walking was over grass; it was hilly, too.
