Food truck wedding

So I'm serving dinner from a food truck.. they are providing everything and serving from food boats. So I don't know what to put on my tables! My guests don't need plates or anything so I would feel weird doing place settings.. are centerpieces enough?

Stephanie- you'll have to excuse me. I am a little edgy. I said I understood what you were going for, super casual. I then gave example of what I did and said that the centerpieces only would be great.

I am having a food truck wedding ( with two trucks plus appetizers inside) and I plan to put doilies in place of plates.

I have an idea that's getting shut down and I'm just trying to figure out why it wouldn't work. Who said I wasn't taking the thoughts into consideration? Sorry I didn't just do what you say

Thank you for your suggestions.. I really am taking everything into consideration. Guests.. functionality.. just needed some clarification. I just feel like because I'm questioning the comments you think I'm just not listening

Put glassware and silverware and napkins on the table. I say this as a former caterer.

Are they having coffee? Then put coffee cups on there too.

No one likes grabbing food, utensils and drinks and navigating to their tables.

This is one of the things I don't really get about food trucks weddings. It reminds me of a food court in a mall. Maybe for the end, but not the whole thing, but I'm ancient.

Just take the suggestions that were given and don't read too much into it. This is the internet. Anything people say can be misconstrued. I didn't understand how you thought that the beer someone took from cocktail hour was enough drink to last through dinner without something else offered. So it seemed like you weren't listen to my suggestion, then you clarified that other drinks would be provided. So I said no need for cups on the table as long as they are provided and just to be centerpieces. Don't worry about it.

To the OP - there are a lot of people who don't understand food trucks as a catering choice. I've just figured things out as I go with it - because for me, taking up an entire room inside my small venue for a buffet would mess with the flow and my capacity, and I would rather have food made to order. My one truck is sushi and hibachi, and the other is tacos.

I'm having silverware caddies and napkins inside in a few different places as well as at the trucks. Also, I'm going to have the trucks tell me what size plates/bowls will work for them and most likely order plastic to ensure my guests don't have trouble with paper plates. They're serving for three hours, and with two trucks and only at most 80 people, I don't see an issue with lines. I will have various cold appetizers inside (catered from a local supermarket) such as a cheese plate, fruit plate, a few different salads including things like wheat berry salad. There will be more than enough food for everyone.

Sushi and tacos?!? That sounds amazing! I like the idea as long as it is thought out like you have Wolf.

I feel like I've overthought everything Val haha, but I know this can work and be fun! My fiancé and I go to food trucks all the time and the ones we've booked have quite a following. Plus for people who aren't adventurous eaters, they can even just get steak at the hibachi with rice.

Id put pitchers of drinks on the tables, as VM said. Sounds like you are going to be going back and forth 3 times before you can even sit down and eat.

If you're doing favors you could always put them at each seat where the plate would usually go so it doesn't look too empty.

Even for a casual party, I think carafes of water on the table is a nice touch. Or what about a bottle if water at each spot? It might also be a good idea to do rolled silverware (if you're doing plastic) or other utensils either at the tables or somewhere accessible other than the trucks. Carrying a drink, plates, and utensils might be difficult for some people. And inevitably some will forget something. You don't want to make someone wait in line at the truck just for a fork. Maybe do like a condiment table where people can grab salt, pepper, appropriate condiments, utensils, and extra napkins.

What if you some how incorporate the utensil bins into the center pieces on your table? That way your guests don't have to carry everything from the truck?

I'm also doing a food truck. I'm doing center pieces and glasses for champagne and water on the tables.

My friend did a food truck. instead of place settings, she set a paper menu and the favors at each place setting. her husband curated the craft beers for the wedding, so there was also a beer list.
