Food😍

Hey everyone! So for the food I’m thinking of doing a crawfish boil with potatoes & corn. I know most of my family and fiancé’s family will like it but is there any other meal that I can add on the side for a few people who would not want them?
There will be fruit and veggie tray.

Love this! I would add maybe kielbasa for those who don't like seafood - or who can't eat it all together! I think cob-corn and potatoes is plenty and go perfectly with your theme. You could always add shrimp, oysters and/or crab legs - depending on your budget!

Might be a know your crowd thing, but you'd definitely want to make sure that you don't have any guests with seafood allergies. Seafood (including crawfish) is one of the most common allergies these days! If I went to a wedding with a crawfish boil and the potatoes and corn were in close proximity to the crawfish let alone touching them (as is usually done in crawfish boils), then I would not be able to eat anything. I'd recommend having an insert on your invitations asking specifically about seafood allergies and planning to serve an entirely different entree prepared in a different kitchen for those guests. Of course, if you don't have anyone with seafood allergies, then there shouldn't be a problem! But if you do, then you'd want to be upfront so they'd know whether they'd want to take the risk to attend your wedding or simply decline altogether.

Another side meal I would suggest though might be BBQ style chicken.

I agree with PP above me. Crawfish boils are difficult to pull off for weddings because the people allergic to seafood not only can't eat the crawfish, but also can't eat the corn and potatoes because they're all cooked together. I'd recommend having a separate meal to provide for your guests with allergies, and having the crawfish table in a corner of your venue and not the center so the people with allergies can stay at least 10-12 feet away. I'm allergic to fish as well, and while I could easily tolerate someone eating a plate of salmon across the table, a full on crawfish boil with seafood parts flying around would be extremely difficult to attend without either vomiting or having an allergic reaction. But if you know that you don't have any guests with seafood allergies, then go for it!

I know you said your families would enjoy this, but I would not. I would be quite upset if there wasn’t another option to eat. PP suggested kielbasa, but that is not a widely liked choice either (I don’t eat this). I would do something like chicken and also have a other veggies/veggie option for Any vegetarians.
You know your crowd. If this is something most/all will enjoy go for it! But don’t forget about the ones that won’t.

It’s pretty labor intensive eating and messy, so make sure everyone knows to wear clothes they don’t mind getting dirty.

I love crawfish but I personally wouldn't be a fan of this at a wedding while I'm dressed in nice clothes. As others have mentioned, you should have a non shellfish option for those who are allergic or don't like crawfish and then a vegetarian option. I can't think of any entrees that would necessarily pair with crawfish, since a crawfish broil is really a meal of its own, so I think you can really go with anything as additional entrees. Maybe some sort of southern chicken dish?

Don't forget about your vegetarian guests. They will also need a full, complete meal and the potatoes and corn won't count as an option if they are cooked with the crawfish.

Just chiming in after reading some of the other comments, you will never be able to accommodate everyone in your crowd - it's just not possible. If YOU want to have a certain food at your wedding, you do that! If you're going to do something kind go bold like this, I say make sure you have a more common option available but don't tailor your entire desire to every guest, you will literally lose your mind.

My only concern would be allergies.

I've been to about 100 weddings with BBQ and I hate BBQ - you just kind of eat what you want from the meal you're given if it's not your favorite. Do what you want girl! Don't try to please each guest - trust me, you'll drive yourself crazy!

We are having filets and I've already been told that someone doesn't eat steak, someone will always not eat or like something. We have two people who requested a vegetarian option beforehand and are doing the two meals.

If you wanna do it, do it! As long as none of your guests have severe seafood allergies- like can't be in the room with it or they will die. But I would definitely recommend a vegetarian option or something that any picky eaters or people with allergies or dietary restrictions can request. Just so people who can't or won't eat the low country don't go hungry. You aren't gonna be able to please everyone, and it sounds like most of your family loves this, so I say go for it!

We are doing a shrimp boil with the shrimp on the side, as well as barbecue and a pasta dish.

Have a vegetarian option. And make sure something is served that has no cross contamination with seafood.

What’s about a gluten-free vegetarian pasta dish? That’ll take care of folks with seafood allergies AND also vegetarians and gluten-free allergies!
