Food!

Leigha, on June 2, 2019 at 6:40 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 14
Hello beautiful people! The only thing my Fiance is picky about is the food. He wants a pasta bar which I dont mind because I love pasta to. We will have:

3 cheese tortellini

Alfredo Chicken carbonara

Ultimate fettuccine

ultimate spaghetti

bake spaghetti and meatballs

Baked fettuccine Alfredo w/ chicken

Baked chicken parmigiano

Chicken broccoli baked penne

Creamy basil Chicken

and a salad.

I invited 80 but maybe 30-50 will show. Should I add something else or take some dishes away? If so what? Tia ladies.

Nine different dishes is definitely overkill for 30-50 people. I’d try to limit it to three or four personally, ie choose either ultimate spaghetti or spaghetti and meatballs. Good luck!

This seems like an overwhelming amount of food options— I love variety but this is a ton, and a lot of similar stuff— id sift through and feel out what things seem to have a lot in common, and then eliminate a couple (you don’t need two different options that have Alfredo sauce and chicken, for example) . A couple chicken options, definitely the meatball option, and maybe one or two types of pasta with one or two types of sauce— totally safe to subtract a couple of those offerings !

Agreed! I would narrow it down to like 4-5 options max. I don't know what ultimate fettuccine or ultimate spaghetti are, but I assume the only difference is the pasta shape (which are similar enough as is).

I agree with PP. I would narrow it down to a few choices. Have some options for vegetarians and meat eaters alike.

I would cut it down some. It seems like that would be very expensive. I would do 3 a chicken a beef or pork or seafood and a vegetarian

I would do the tortellini, one alfredo, one spaghetti, (either spaghetti or alfredo baked, not both) and the creamy basil. If you want something else, I would add breadsticks or garlic bread as well as the salad. A pasta bar sounds delicious though!

The dishes only feed 6 people. Still weed some out?

I’d assume that people will take a bit of everything or at least a bit of several dishes. People also tend to take more food when it’s buffet style with multiple options. I’d get several orders of each dish you select to make sure you have enough to serve the number of people coming without giving them so many options. Have you tasted all the dishes? Do you and your FH have favorites you definitely want to include? I’d start there and eliminate dishes that are very similar.

I agree with everyone else, that’s going to be extremely expensive to have all those options. I’m assuming you’re doing a buffet and with a buffet you would need to have enough of each thing for everyone. So in case everyone wants tortellini there needs to be enough so everyone could get some. It wouldn’t be fair if everyone at table 1 ate all of it before table 5 was called up to get food. Plus at buffets people tend to take larger portions.

If they only feed 6 can you ask for larger dishes. That will seem odd if only 3 people get spaghetti, 3 get alfredo, 3 get ziti etc

Man I think that's actually way too many options. I mean it sounds awesome though because I like having variety but I think some of them sound repetitive especially because pasta is extremely heavy.
Don't forget dessert and maybe some types of bread like garlic or something.

This ! Narrow down the dishes, and then increase the portions of each dish (ex, instead of getting one portion each of 9 different dishes, get 3 portions each of 3 different dishes)
