Food

Meshaun, on September 11, 2021 at 2:06 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 11
Hello ladies! I was wondering if you guys think it’s tacky to have menu options cards at the table. I put the options on my RSVP BUT IT DID NOT GO AS PLANNED BECAUSE I DID ELECTRONIC INVITATIONS I want to keep traffic down in the dining area as much as possible! I would if to where I do 1 table at a time with numbered seating but not assigned seating chart to get the food out! My servers will go to eat table and collect the cards to get the food out! Some people that want to be there are still afraid of COVID SO I WANT TO MAKE EVERYONE AS COMFORTABLE AS POSSIBLE?

So wait, are you doing a seated dinner or a buffet? I'm assuming a buffet because I don't see how that would work for a seated dinner since the caterer would need to know in advance who was getting what. & if it's a buffet then you wouldn't need to know because the food options would be available to all. So I guess I'm confused?

This should really be a question for your caterer.

You need to ask your caterer if that’s feasible or not. I know we had a come to Jesus talk with my caterer early on about what they were willing to do as far as individually serving guests. The end result was that we need to know ahead of time what everyone’s eating, and their food choice must be clearly marked at every table. We will then give the caterer the seating chart with what dishes go to each table. We picked that option anyway (over a buffet) because it involves less covid risk.

But every caterer is different, so it’s worth asking them for options.

I asked and she told me that it’s whatever I want to do as long as I have enough food! Trying to get everyone to even just say yea or no to coming is hard! I can only imagine trying to go back and get food as well

It will probably be more expensive to have them choose at the wedding as the caterer would have to have enough of each entree for each guest so that they don’t run out. Say you have 50 guests they would have to have 50 chicken and 50 steak entrees (it maybe slightly less maybe like 40 and 40). Whereas if each guests tells you what they want they can have 30 chicken and 20 steak with just a few extras for emergencies.
But if you’re fine with that and the caterer is fine with that, I don’t see it being an issue on your big day.

Are guests going to just be selecting main entree and all receiving the same sides, or will they be marking everything they would’ve picked from a buffet? If each person’s plate is going to be individualized like it would be at a buffet, I would imagine this would take a lot of time to serve everyone.

So basically like a restaurant instead the servers aren’t taking orders verbally! They will have the same dudes but different meats
