Foot Washing

Can you explain the background on this? I have never heard of it being done at a wedding.

I'm not but I think it's a beautiful tradition! I mostly seen it done during the actual ceremony.

My friend did a foot washing at her reception before their first dance. I’m not planning on doing one as of now, but it was really beautiful and they didn’t do anything fancy. Just very simple and powerful. They had a calm Christian music playing in the background. It was announced that they were doing it, but it wasn’t explained since a huge majority of the people knew what it was. As far as explaining it, that would be a know your crowd kind of thing.

A lot of people use it to symbolize the importance of both people in the marriage since they are washing each other’s feet as Jesus did.

Hey Macie! Have you and your FS decided if this is something you will include in your wedding? Will you do it at the ceremony or reception?

We will be doing ours during our ceremony. Our pastor will explain the significance but it will definitely be a moment between FH and myself. I am excited to do it.

What song did everyone choose during the door washing ceremony? I’ll be having it at my wedding and I’m trying to find the perfect song.
