For all the DIY Brides out there

Catalina, on June 26, 2014 at 10:44 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 15

I just want to encourage brides out there considering DIY projects to give it a shoot! I am not very creative or talented and decided to try to make my brooch bouquet. Of course I am trying early in case its a fail. It's still in the early stages but I am confident if I keep working on it I will love it. I also bought an inexpensive.......not sure what it is called, but I'll call in a bridal patch, and lace to try to make my garter. I will not be using this one, I used it as a test run but I now know I can do it. I will buy a bridal patch that I will use for my final garter. Sorry for my ignorant terminology, but I hope you ladies understand and are not afraid to try something new. Also, thank you to all the DIY brides who have posted tips. I used all the tips when doing these projects and a BIG thanks to the bride who posted the Pearl and Lace template. I will be printing them myself using the template.

Wow, the brooch bouquet is gorgeous, and the garter looks amazing too. Can you please post this lace and pearl template that you speak of? We are doing lace and pearls for our DIY wedding.

Hey Ladies, I can't find the link, but I have the template in the word document. I can email it to whoever wants it. If you would like me to send it to you email me at catwoman_VL at yahoo. The lace print is it gold. I had my friend convert the color to a blush to fit my colors

@ Minji, Thanks! I'm new to arts and craft projects so I am learning as I go. Happy with the way it is coming out.

DId you use silk flowers or did you make the flowers? I've been meaning to get started on my brooch bouquet but the thought of making a ton of satin flowers by hand is kinda scaring me.

EDIT: by the way your bouquet is gorgeous!! Smiley smile

@ Future Mrs. R, start by purchasing brooches. Besides brooches I bought ring, earrings anything that would work. Look at swapmeets, thrift stores and online. Not sure if you can tell but my bouquet is pretty large and I bought like 40 pieces. I have about half in the bouquet right now.

@ Soon to be Mr. K I used silk flowers. I tried making the ribbon roses, but since I'm new to it, it was kind of difficult. Once I started to be the hang of it I lost interest because it was time consuming and used a lot of ribbon. I like the way the silk flowers look. If you want to use the ribbon roses you can buy them online and they aren't expensive.

@ Nicole, If I can do it anybody can seriously do it. Start collecting brooches, earring and ring. Buy/make your flowers
