For those of you that used VP for invitations...

Nicole S. (formerly Nicole C), on June 30, 2013 at 10:23 AM Posted in Planning 0 21

Which sizes did you get and how did you package them/mail them? Did you get envelopes from VP? Buy standard envelopes from another site online? Did they have trouble fitting?

I originally wanted pocketfold invitations but realized I didn't really need them, and from what I've heard the sizes that VP offers are a little strange. I just want to make this as easy as possible and I'm stressing unnecessarily I think at this point... all I need is the invitation and the response card. We aren't providing accommodations since the wedding is on a Sunday and not a lot of out-of-state people are coming. I'm not sure exactly what I need to include other than that.

Opinions/samples/anything- I'm going crazy over here. I don't have a problem personalizing them a little once I receive them (i.e. adding a little bling or something myself)- but I don't want to have to re-cut/shape them if I can help it.

I used the 4x8 invites, and got the free envelopes that come with them. I got multiple pages, and secured them all together in a corner with a brad, so each suite opened like a fan. I wanted something different than the regular pocket fold, and liked the shape of long rectangles. Plus, all the extra envelopes I can use for other things now because they are a standard size Smiley smile

I got th 6x9 invites and also got the free envelopes that came with them. I'm lining my envelopes with a fun paper just for something extra!

    We went SUPER simple.

    Used these: http://www.vistaprint.com/design/5HW-931972/mint-monogram-horizontal-flat-wedding-invitations.aspx?xnav=gallery

Got them in the purple color - and changed the wording to be super informal.

Got the RSVP card that matched and kept that very simple as well.

I also ordered the free envelopes that came with them - and I'm pretty sure that all of it together will only need a regular postage stamp.

Seriously - everyone is going to throw them away. I wasn't about to waste money I didn't have to put towards someone's trash.

The free envelopes looked/worked OK for you? I'm not sure what the quality is like but I don't need super fancy and long as the invitations look stellar and they can hold them properly- they worked OK with the corner piece you used? I'm assuming that made them slightly thicker...

I ordered the 5x7 invites and had intended to use the envelopes they included for free. However, the invites were actually 4.5x7. I had made gatefolds that were 5x7, so they were too large to fit into the envelopes that came with the invites. I was disappointed because I had to then buy envelopes that were larger than the invites. They did refund some of my money though when I emailed them about it. Oh well.

Just be aware that the size they advertise is not necessarily the size they will be.

I ordered the 5x7 invites with matching envelopes. At first I went crazy searching for pocket folds to match but they were too costly. I opted to use 8" doilies and twine instead and they came out so pretty. The postage was only 66 cents per invite. I finally mailed them yesterday and couldn't be any happier lol

Mine were like 6 by 9. They gave envelopes the invitations fit perfectly with room for rsvp, direction card and reception card. They also give extra. I just had to order extra rsvp envelopes though because they only give you the exact amount. I got them in the mail 2 weeks after ordering them. They came in a box. I'm so happy I ordered from vp. My invitations were beautiful. I also had a living social deal. You should check groupon and living social to see if they have any deals going on.

All Smiles I'm with you... pocketfolds look SO nice but I have no need for them so it's not worth the extra cost.

I only need the invitation itself, the rsvp card and the return envelope... the ceremony and reception are all in the same place so I don't even need that I don't think.

From what I can remember (lol) I got 4x6 and paid to have navy blue envelopes from there..brides on here said the white envelopes were a bit see through..but I don't think they were that bad; they sent the free white ones too. Invitations were low on the priority list for me..I think with a special or something I got like 75 invitations for 15 bucks or something like that. Pretty awesome. I did post card rsvps..that way I didn't have to pay for extra envelopes/cheaper postage. :-)

Nicole - they are just plain, white envelopes, nothing to write home about, but they are free! And I just picked up some scrapbook paper from Michaels and Hobby Lobby. I'm following this tutorial:

http://www.weddingbee.com/2008/07/14/lining-envelopes/#axzz2Xi5PJ4fz . It's not difficult, just time consuming so I'm starting early!

I got the 6x9 invites with the free envelopes. I had no problem with them, except I couldn't find a way to order extra plain envelopes, just the fancy ones. They were thick enough that you can't really see the invitation through it (and mine are very colorful), which is good. Unless you want to go all out and spend the extra money on the fancy envelopes (which if you are using all the super VP saving tricks, shouldn't cost too much), you should be good with the ones included. I love my invitations, by the way! Smiley smile

Just a reminder: I had a mishap with the wrong date being printed on some of my shower invites, which was totally MY fault, not VP. Just make sure you have someone ELSE proofread everything. I look over things 80 times before I buy and I somehow missed it. Just a new set of eyes for confirmation would be a good idea! Lol.

The invites weren't important to us (we figured most people would keep them to for the information, and then pitch them anyway). We used the 5x7 horizontal, and the free envelopes that they came with. No inside envelopes. We did the RSVPs with the line for names, and wrote in the number of seats.

I'm sitting here with hundreds of the free envelopes from VP not knowing what to do. They are pretty cheap envelopes. I also wanted the pocketfolds but not sure if I will get them.

I did postcards for RSVP, and the 4x8 invites. I designed my own, so I bought envelopes through envelope mall. I'm going to layer them, and then put a lace belly band around them.

I don't have a blacked out picture of the rsvps but they match and I printed both sides in color so a bit more, but it worked. I have purple metallic outer envelopes and the rsvp envelope (I didn't want them to get banged up even though they're post cards) is metallic black.

I ordered a flat card invite that measures 8 3/8 X 5 3/8. I didn't think about the size so much when I ordered them. The plain white envelope is 6 X 9 so plenty of space. I agree with some of the others in that I rarely am wowed by invites I receive so I went with the plain and simple that included one of our colors. I changed the wording and personalized it to our needs. I also ordered the rsvp cards and thank you cards that both fit in their respective envelopes. The rsvp envelopes I was able to get the coordinating ones for 50% off so I went with those. They are no different quality other than the design in lower corner. Our wedding and reception are both in same place so we just added a line on invite to say reception to follow. That eliminated the need for a reception card or maps/directions. The quality at VP is not high end but it does allow you to stay on a budget and still look nice. I actually screwed up the date on first order so had to reorder invites and I got even cheaper

VP 6x9 invites. I used their free envelopes and lined them with wrapping paper since they were kinda thin envelopes.

I purchased the 6"x 9" flat invites from VP with a Groupon. I'm happy with them! I also did 2 different insert cards, rsvp cards (+ their envelope). I'll be wrapping a bit of lace and bakers twine around them before I put it all in an envelope. All of the invites come with envelopes.. they are a bit thin (think copy paper), but if you're tight on budget they work just fine! If you must purchase higher quality envelopes, they are fairly inexpensive on envelopemall.com. It is a bit tricky to match the sizes.

Good Luck!! Don't forget to enter the code for 50% off from (retailmenot.com) Smiley smile
