Officially Mrs. B
Super December 2014

For those of you who are getting married in a church (or already did)...

Officially Mrs. B, on July 4, 2014 at 1:45 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 18

What kind of aisle décor did you do??? This is the one thing that is completely stumping me!!! FH's main request for the wedding was to get married in the same church that his parents got married in 31 years ago.... (Awww.... I know) The church looks the same now as it did in the 80s, complete with wood paneling and red carpet! I have NO idea what kind(s) of décor to do!!!

I'm pretty sure I'm going to use some kind of aisle runner, but other than that, I've got nothing! So let's see it! Show me your ideas and inspirations, please! Smiley smile

This is my venue, and this is kind of what I am going for. I do want pew bows, and maybe flowers in those bows. I will skip the aisle runner since the white marble floor is part of what I love about this place. My table cloth will be navy with white lace overlay and pink and white rose arrangements.

We're in a red carpeted church too! Haha, so we're using a white aisle runner that will have some rose petals on it. Pew decor on every other pew similar to the photo (without the jar), and then large flower arrangements on pillars on the sides of us. The photos are the inspiration for the look. There are also some vases on the altar that we will fill.

We're not allowed to use a runner so we're just leaving the floor as is. Fortunately it is hard wood and not red carpet!

I'm doing the peacock and roses with vases with candles down my aisle.

This is what we did. Pretty simple, but added a little bit of something to the chapel.

This is the one thing I know for sure. Our aisle decor will be very similar to the below:

This is the inside of my church. To be honest, I'm not decorating it too much because I'm saving all my decor for the reception since that's where the guests are mostly spending their time.

However what I'm planning on doing is having 2 flower arrangements on pillars up at the altar and cascading flowers arrangements on every 2 pews.

We did flowers in small tin cans for the first few rows, then did white bows.

We're having two small bouquets on the altar (which is tiny) and I'm doing indian corn and gold bows on the pews. That and a big old sign out front that makes it clear, our wedding is unplugged.

My church does not allow this they only allow a flower arrangement for a pedestal that is given to them as a charity.

Rose petals on the ground, 2 tall vased bouquets at the altar, and pew flowers on the front family rows

The only isle decor we had were pew bows for the family that is it... I think a church is beautiful in itself and we (I) didn't want much.

This was how we set ours up. We just moved into this new building, but our old looked very similar to what you're describing. Pictures from previous weddings at our old building decorated very similarly to what we did (all of the decorations minus our sunflowers we brought in and the unity candle were already at the church and we got to borrow them for free). Can you ask the church if they have any pictures from previous weddings to give you an idea? My church had tons of photos!

We didn't do anything in the church other than a floral arrangement on the alter. The church doesn't allow anything else and was beautiful without anything.

We did very little in the way of aisle decor; just some pew bows at the end of each row. My assumption is that a church (or synagogue, in our case) is set up to be attractive enough for people to go to for services every week, so there is no real need for extensive decorations. And I've heard a lot of bad things about aisle runners--either they inconvenience people by making them go around the long way to be seated, or they have to be rolled out at the last minute which holds up the whole ceremony, or they end up dirty and wrinkled even before the processional starts. We decided just to deal with the carpeting (which was blue rather than red in our case).
