For those of you who are NOT doing rustic/burlap, what are you doing?

It seems like a lot of brides HATE the rustic/barn/lace/burlap/mason jar thing. This is however very common around where I live because unless you have a wedding at the very high end country clubs, you are sort of stuck with barn venues (lots of cornfields, lots of barns). I am just curious what your theme is? Are you against the "theme" thing all together?

We don't have a "theme" so to speak, but my colors are orange and pink (think more bold fall colors, PS "real" orange is difficult to find!) and I am playing off of simple elegance, keeping it super simple for the centerpieces, 3 different height vases with river rock and a floating candle, and the middle vase will have an orange or pink calla lily in it. Our space is gorgeous with a fireplace and huge wooden beams, and huge windows overlooking the lake. We really don't want to take away from the natural beauty!

Our venue handles all the decorations. The tables will have white table cloths. Center pieces will be tall glass vases with flowers in our colors. Then our favors will be at each place setting. Elegant with out being stuffy!

Oregon where did you find those animals?

My reception is in a barn but we have a wooded area out back. The theme I'm going for is an elegant earthy, woodland and wimsical feel. I said it, theme. Smiley smile

I have to agree that once the word theme hits the screen everyone is up in arms about it, but like others have said - it will only have hints of these elements throughout. I don't plan to have everything with creatures everywhere. Some people do overdo the theme thing and then it gives it the negative connotation (e.g camo, pink, fireman theme). 9_9

No burlap at ours except for table numbers - everything else was lanterns, curly willow, hydrangeas. I wanted more simple Smiley smile

Lol!!! I don't hate rustic but I certainly CANNOT imagine it being the only theme!!!

Our "theme" is Chinese-Scottish, and we're getting married in a hall with a lot of celtic character so decorations will be simple, and mostly white. Our centerpieces will be origami (even though it's Japanese FH and his friend love origami) and potted flowers or succulents.

    Here's our hall!

Ours will just be southern and simple. Light colors, seersucker decorations, sharp lines, and lots of white.

I don't have a theme. I think the theme of a wedding should be "wedding". My colors are black and white so I have black and white stuff places. I am doing mine at a hotel and am not doing any DYI stuff really. I'm going to use whatever decorations they have. That is one thing I can't bring myself to spend money on, decor. It has such little effect on the day.

I have no problem with rustic if it fits you. However, if you are the uptown city girl who only saw a barn on long road trips and when they go to the pumpkin patch, then I kind of wonder why they are using the theme. I mean not that I have any influence on what they do nor do I really care what theme people use so long as they are happy. But why go for something that is trendy yet completely opposite of you and your fiance's personalities/lifestyles?

We are getting married in a museum. Our "theme" is more abstract than anything really. We keep joking and saying it's Betty. As in the Betty vs Veronica. We want it to be comfortable, put together, understated instead of over the top, high maintenance, and opulent.

No theme. We just used regular linens. Our centerpieces were sheet music roses, babies breath, and (fake) pearls in cylinder vases.

I don't think we really have a theme...Just our colors which are mint/coral/gray/white. Although, I do want it to have a very romantic feel.

We're not really doing anything. I mean, it's not like you have to have a theme or a style of decor. We're getting married at a very nice venue so we don't need to decorate much, and our centerpieces are paper flowers because I like arts and crafts and, more importantly, it's cheaper and easier for us than real flowers. That's pretty much it.

I know...I am sooooo over that rustic stuff...It was awesome, now its just overdone..

I don't really have a theme per se...Maybe "in da club"...Is my theme?

I love leopard print. So my bridesmaids are wearing leopard print shoes and I will have leopard print linens...Basically, its going to be fun, a little pimped out, a little blinged out and totally ME!

I am having a rustic wedding but staying away from the burlap and lace(I am allergic to burlap). I am using mason jars only because FH has a bunch and my mom wanted them. I am more doing a vintage feel and using butterflies on a lot of stuff.
