For those of you who are NOT doing rustic/burlap, what are you doing?

It seems like a lot of brides HATE the rustic/barn/lace/burlap/mason jar thing. This is however very common around where I live because unless you have a wedding at the very high end country clubs, you are sort of stuck with barn venues (lots of cornfields, lots of barns). I'm doing a midsummer night's dream theme, based on the 1999 movie. There will be vintage ( Victorian) elements, woodland/nature elements, and many what I call "found items", as if fairies could have collected them- skeleton keys, tandem bicycles, hardcover books, etc. The main color is emerald green with various purple and black accents.

Two words: Wine Bottles!! we are making the wine for our wedding, our venue feels like a Italian Vinyard and we love booze so it's only fititng that wine bottles be used in the centerpieces

@Kristine: I had hoped most my life I would marry a fellow Scot so I could have a traditional Scottish wedding...alas that was not the case BUT I will have my tartan somewhere!

We don't really have a "theme" our colors are shades of purple with gold and a little bit of silver and white touches here and there. It will have a more intimate feel to it with candles and flowers.

We're doing a forest, nature vibe kind of deal. Lot's of DIY stuff with ribbon, lace and rose gold glitter. Lots of moss, flower blossoms, mercury glass, candles and lanterns. Venue is a historic mansion with beautiful outdoor gardens (reason why I chose it).

Colors are ivory, black, and red. The ceremony will have some aspects of a vintage feel- and the reception will have a movie theme. The place cards will be sealed popcorn baggies, there is a photo booth with a red carpet, and I'm looking into having the projector to show on a back wall saying "now showing mr and mrs Simmons"

I don't hate it and Ive seen it done nicely, but it just isn't me. I guess my wedding style is romantic garden with touches of vintage. my wedding will take place inner city downtown. We exchange vows in a garden and have our reception in a museum.

I've been calling mine "Train Station Chic" since we're getting married in a rehabbed train station. A little vintage with some mercury glass bling. You can see the look on my inspiration board.

There are few barns here in Silicon Valley, so my theme was 'we're getting married-- come have fun with us!' We got married at a country club at a gazebo, walked inside for the reception-- I loved it, but it was definitely *not* up to the standards of many ladies on here!

Mine is a mash-up of 007, Mad Men and Gatsby. Swanky and classy with vintage elegance. Colors are gold, black, champagne and ivory. Modern art deco elements and some glistening crystal make it a little glam.

Hard to say exactly what our "theme" is, but FH and I have been together since we were 14 so the wedding will have a lot of things that symbolized us during different phases in our life. For example- our wedding programs are origami fortune tellers because it's very middle-school-y and we were in middle school when we began dating...again kind of hard to explain. The ceremony is also outside in a private garden and a permanent tent for the reception.

Same here. Most venues in this area within our price range and must-haves are farms. The key difference is the place we found today can be decorated to suit what we want. Its a beautiful farm, and the barn is a bit "barn-y", but again it's all about decor. I absolutely hate burlap/lace/chalkboard/cowboy boots/haybales decor, it's just not me at all and it's so overdone. I'm ok with minimal Mason jars....maybe.

No theme really. We're going for natural, woodsy elements like greenery, handmade wooden tables, and some hints of metal with elegant, modern design. Maybe soft industrial, a bit? It will be in the spring so we're also incorporating some boho elements like wildflowers/multicolored arrangements, maybe some vintage colored glasses (my mom has green ones that are not only pretty but special to me), and colorful, not just white and brown tablecloths.

I am very over the Rustic Chic / Cowboy Chic weddings. I thought it was cute when Miranda Lambert did it in like...2011, but a zillion of the same wedding style later. Not so much.

Do whatever you want though. Your wedding, your day.

We decided on Beauty & The Beast wedding theme. Lots of blues/gold/red. Floating rose centerpiece....things like that. B&TB has always been my favorite movie so FH went out of the way to make sure my proposal was B&TB themed as well!
