For those of you who drink alcohol - What do you order from the bar when you attend a wedding?

For those of you who drink alcohol

- What do you order from the bar when you attend a wedding?

- What drinks would you like to have when you attend a wedding

(that the bar might not have)?

- If a drinks menu was provided, what would you like to see on it?

- What is your all time favorite drink?

I usually like mixed drinks if Im at a party or wedding- and prefer a premium vodka like Kettle One or Grey Goose. A drink menu is a fun idea. I went to one venue's cocktail party to sample the food and they had a signature drink which was AWESOME - it was Pear Vodka with Pomegranate juice served in a martini glass. I never would have ordered it or asked, but I loved it.

I do not drink beer or wine...so the beer and wine only weddings KILL me...I am automatically the DD while all of my friends and fiance get wasted...so to answer your questions:

    - Liquor drinks (usually Captain and Coke or Vodka Red Bull or Vodka Sprite)...or water or soda if no liquor

    - Liquor! Lots of options for alcohol and mixers

    - I don't think a menu is necessary...all you need is a little display showing what they have...I would like to see one type of light rum, one dark rum, a whiskey, a vodka, a tequila, and a scotch...then plenty of sodas, juices, etc. for mixers. Then at least one red wine and one white and then a few different types of beer...probably one standard, one light, and one IPA

    - My all time favorite drink is Captain and Coke

Just for the record...that was answering your questions from an ideal guest perspective...obviously if you can't afford all of that, then you have to make decisions!

I usually order a fuzzy navel or malibu baybreeze.

These are the drinks I usually like to have.

I would love a menu and agree with Gina, there maybe something I would have never tried if I didn't know it was available.

Favorite drink of all time is fuzzy navel, its not strong and I can handle it!

We are doing beer, wine, and liquor. I know our crowd pretty well, and have tailored the the types of beers, wines, and liquors to their tastes. The hall provides the juices, garnishes, sweet and sour mix, bloody marry mix, etc.

As far as hard liquor, we are planning on providing:

Rum: Bacardi Superior and Sailor Jerry (and a coconut rum)

Whiskey: Jack Daniels, Seagrams 7, and Black Velvet

    Burbon: Jim Beam Black

    Scotch: Johnny Walker Black

    Tequila: Jose Quervo

    Gin: Tanqueray

Vodka: 3 Olives - plain, chocolate, orange, vanilla, cherry, and grape

Liquors: Amaretto, Bailey's, Kahlua, Peach Schnapps, Triple Sec, and Jagger

I was thinking a bar menu would be nice for the same reason you ladies have mentioned. I feel a lot of people get "ye old stand by drink" because they just don't know what they could have. I know I don't have a lot of martini drinkers, but a lot of people who love the sweet fruity drinks like fuzzy navels. I am trying to find/make a list of 10 (simple) cocktails that people can order.

Jessie, I like that you are trying this because people get the "old stand by drink" its so true and so many times I stare and say "what am I going to have" and its usually something Ive had a 1,000 times. LOL You can get a chalkboard and list the drinks - 5 would even be a good amount I think and give them cute names too to go with the wedding etc. (not their standard bar names)

99% of the wedding venues we looked at only offered wine and beer on their drinks packages. So I would probably drink a bubbly or white moscato, and FH would drink XXXX Gold (Aust beer) or Coronas.

If the bar included spirits, I would drink bubbly or Canadian Club & Cola with lime or Malibu and Cola or Vodka and lemon and lime. If cocktails were included I always enjoy anything with vodka & passionfruit or berry.

My favourite drink would have to be a Grey Goose vodka, soda water, and passionfruit pulp.

I've only been to one wedding that had alcohol.. we had a choice of wine or beer, and I chose wine! I probably would have anyway, even if there had been mixed drinks... it's a

guarantied pleased type of thing for me, no chance of being shorted or bad bar tending Smiley smile

Would definitely love to see a drink menu, but it's fine as long as the bartender knows what they're doing and their supply (and they probably do)

All time favorite drink? It really depends on where I get it, but I love appletinis and mojitos generally... zinfandels never dissapoint me!

We are going to look at having a signature drink with the new Cake Vodka out. I love the Three Olives brand...maybe with pom juice or blueberry...

Well, in an ideal world, I'd go for Bailey's, Kahlua, or Peach Schnapps. Yes, I do have the taste in alcohol of a 12-year-old! However, I'm also completely content with nonalcoholic drinks.

Have you done searches on websites like www.kindredcocktails.com? I think you can plug in a type of liquor and a bunch of recipes will come up. You can probably find a site where you can filter by the number of ingredients if you want something simple.

I don't like anything really sweet. Usually when I'm at an open bar I'll get Jameson on the rocks or a cognac neat. Smiley smile If I get a mixed drink, it's usually a whiskey or gin "press" which is soda with a splash of 7up; or bourbon with ginger ale. Sidecars are good too and pretty easy! Brandy or cognac of your choice, cointreau or triple sec, lemon juice and a lemon wedge. There's a bar we like in town that does a variation with cognac, triplesec and orange juice. It's sooooooooo good!

This is my favorite cocktail of all time! We want sooooo badly to make this our signature drink but there are just too many ingredients and our bartender would kill us. Smiley smile

I drink whiskey and water...preferably Crown Royal. I HATE beer and can't drink much wine because it gives me headaches.

I'm a Capitan and Coke girl! I pretty much always drink that at weddings. I would, however, be very content drinking a Bud Light or Moscato/Riesling type wine!

It depends, My norm would be jack danials and ginger ale. If jack is not available then i go with the rum and coke.

I bartend sometimes for weddings at the hotel. I can say 1. Do not have tequila unless you are having margaritas. 2. vodka is the number one liquor used then rum then whiskey. 3. People will drink whatever you have if its free!
