For those of you WITHOUT a bridal party...

SB821, on May 15, 2015 at 1:22 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

Who are you getting ready with for the wedding? Just inviting people to hang out? Doing something more formal?

The only thing I miss about not having a bridal party is the group getting ready and drinking champagne together. Wondering if others without bridesmaids are asking people to get ready with them, even if not in the party.

Thanks!

Could you get ready with your mom and FMIL?

No bridal party here. A couple friends of mine might come by (we're renting a house right next to venue) as well as some aunts etc. Other than that - it's my mom and me. I'm not too worried about it. The less people is fine with me because I can just relax and not get a million different opinions from people while I'm doing my hair and makeup. Those that want to come over, can.

I had one friend there that did my hair and another friend that did my make-up. We laughed, snacked and had a great time.

Oh my mom will be there, at least for part of it. She's getting her makeup done too. And I have a MOH. I was thinking of just giving my hotel room number to girlfriends and telling them a time to stop by if they want?

And definitely no FMIL. She's a lovely, sweet person, but awkward as hell. Plus, she doesn't know any of my friends and she doesn't drink. She's older, and it's not her thing.

We are only having our siblings (one each) stand up with us. But I'm inviting my "would-be" bridesmaids to get ready because I love that part, too! They are playing other roles at my wedding - singing or reading or guestbook etc. I want to get some professional photos during that time with them, even if they aren't a true "bridal party." They could probably opt to get their hair and/or makeup done by the person I hire if they want (pay themselves, which is usually what bridesmaids do anyway).

It'll just be me, my hair stylist (also a long-time friend), my mom, sister and my aunt who's flying in from overseas. We're all staying in various houses/rooms at the inn at my venue so it'll be pretty low-key when everyone comes by and whatnot. Honestly, I wouldn't want anyone else just stopping by. I want to keep the morning as low-key and relaxed as possible Smiley smile But if you want friends to come by, certainly ask! Of course, if they have dates, the dates will have to hang out somewhere.

It's pretty much a destination wedding, with everyone, including me, having to travel to Santa Barbara. I'm staying at the same hotel as the reception, so there will be friends and family at the hotel anyway. Just wondering if people were having non-bridal party people with you!

My photographers were the best! Kept me "hydrated" and laughing and got me in to my dress. It was very calm yet fun.

I am planning on not having an official bridal party, but asking a couple close friends and future sister in law to join me in the bridal suite. I love knowing there are others who don't want to have bridal parties because i have had a lot of questions about it!

I don't have a bridal party, but my best friend will be there and probably my daughter or sisters.

My mom. Makes sense for me to get ready in my parents' hotel room while FH gets ready in ours.

We are also having a destination wedding with no bridal party. My mom will be there of course. Then his sister who is my hair stylist. I'm sure my best friend will also be there while getting ready. I really don't think anyone else will be in the room as it is small. I do hope to have a cocktail though with the ladies!

I don't have a bridal party. But I will have my best friend get ready with me. She's a great best friend and I will be happy to have just her to share that first cocktail.
