For those planning a small wedding

What types of venues are you looking at? How many guests in considered a small amount? I have a large family but really want a small wedding and I don’t know how to start planning 😅

Hi Hailey! Venues will always ask you “how many guests?” so it’s good you’re thinking of the numbers already! I come from a big family as well. Perhaps start with who is typically around your thanksgiving table. Hope this helps ❤️

We had a small wedding of around 50 and we found hotels were super willing to work with our number!

When we originally planned for a 25 guest count, we looked at having it at an art gallery.

We are having around 20 people. Since it’s such a small number we have the ceremony at the local arboretum and then rented a private dining room for dinner after. All the reception venues I saw were too big and expensive for what we wanted and didn’t make sense.

I think we had a medium sized wedding with 50 people, including us. We had to make a bunch of cuts. We had our ceremony on the beach at like 3pm and then had dinner at a local bar/restaurant within walking distance. And the food was amazing and so was the bartenders signature drink . Our budget was like 5k for the whole thing. Food, alcohol, ceremony. If you are looking to get married at the Delaware beaches I have some recommendations

Unfortunately with a small wedding (<50), you'll have to get creative in finding a venue or pick a weekday. Many venues are simply designed for larger weddings and have high minimum food and beverage spend or 100+ minimum guest count for weekends.

When I was considering a 30ish guest list I found inns, B&B's, and restaurants a really great fit. They're not typical wedding venues and have smaller spaces, really good food, and are really flexible on what you can do. Plus your guests can stay on site!

I’m new to wedding planning so I honestly thought small meant 100 people or less 😅

Honestly though, I’d LOVE to have a wedding with only 50 guests. I’m struggling with the guest list because my parents have 7 other siblings on each side and their kids have kids and so on. And then there’s my parents first cousins and their kids, etc. My family is huge.
I don’t regularly speak to a LOT of my family members because of where they live, etc, but I feel like if some of them were to find out I got married without inviting them they’ll have their feelings hurt. I know it’s mine and my fiancé’s wedding and we can invite who we want, but I’m trying to avoid any unnecessary conflict with family over invites.

Take a look at peerspace.com and eventective.com..you can filter the search for smaller counts and those will give you unique ideas to choose from.

In that case I don't think you'll have much trouble finding a venue for 100 people!
