For those who have rented a tent

Mandy, on September 29, 2010 at 11:55 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 9

We are renting a 30x40 tent for our reception. Realistically what am I going to need in the way of decorations? We are trying to keep the costs as reasonable as possible. I will have centerpieces and lighting but I am wondering if I need more???

Is it clear or white? What time of year and time of day ? To make a tent pop and not cost a lot ask your DJ about up lighting . Your center pieces will help a lot as well . Your table clothes and chairs will also help if you add color to it as well .

Using fabric pole covers, grapevine or smilex especially on any interior poles will help soften their look. Lanterns, LED pillar candles, battery operated LED twinkle lights and/or led votives add sparkle when incorporated into some of the table centerpieces. If you are dancing inside the tent and it's not on a hard surface you may want a dance floor which will become a part of the overall look depending on it's surface. Check on how clean the rented tent will actually be, not all are and it'll obviously affect the decor.

It would really help us if we had more info on helping you if we had more info about what you theme is, how much decor you will have at the ceremony, and what you are planning your tables to look like.

For example I had a 10x30 I think is what is was but anyway we did very little to the tent its self due to the fact that we really didn't do much decor at all because it was a outside wedding that focused on the love of the family, and the beautiful nature that we had around us. Of course we could have gone all out and bought or rented thousands of dollars of decor and table setting but to tell you the truth we didn't want much more than what we had there.

Here is my slide show of about 100 pictures of the wedding that will five you a good idea of what we had there.

I decorate tents all the time. Is it a frame tent, or a pole tent? If it is a frame tent, there will be a metal structure that will make it easier to hang battery lighted paper lanterns. If it's a pole tent, I would get a tall ladder and use fabric to cover the center poles. I do lighted hanging lanterns, but I have made light strings that I attach on a "spider web" of white rope. It is too expensive and difficult for a DIY project. I like the idea of up lighting. It makes the tent glow, and you can choose your bridal colors. Tents are very white and if you have white linen, it can look very plain. Color is good!

Make sure it has side panels/walls to keep the heat in. There are also propane heaters available.

Thanks Everyone!! It is a frame tent, it is white. And against my preferences I will be getting sides for it. The rest of the wedding decor will mostly be white lights, candles, some flowers in the pool. I was planning on having Ivory linen until Mary cautioned me against it Smiley smile

Mandy, some side panels are clear or have clear "windows" in them.

I think one of the best investments one could make when using a frame tent is a tent liner. This covers all of the pipe frame and looks like the ceiling is draped. What can be very cool is if there is lighting in between the ceiling and the liner to create a beautiful glow.

Tent pole covers, yes and as far as the lighting, what do you have? Spots of chandeliers are much prettier than standard globe lights.

    Good Luck!
