For those with enhancers....

mlw, on May 17, 2016 at 10:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

How much did you size your enhancer up from your engagement ring to accommodate for the extra ring?

I asked this question once before, but didn't get any answers. But, I'm really starting to worry though that the jewelry store ordered the wrong size.

Thanks....

Mrs. Wade, we couldn't give you a better answer than the jeweler (unless somebody here is a jeweler). I've never sized a ring in my life -- an enhancer or otherwise. I seriously doubt many other WW members have either. I'd never second guess someone who does, for a living, what I don't do for a living.

Why do you believe your jeweler ordered the wrong size enhancer? No offense intended, but have you gained or lost weight since you were measured for the piece? You know that a jeweler, much like a florist, doesn't stay in business if they don't know what they're doing, right? Seriously, what's causing you to worry about this?

I went to try on rings today and tried on a few enhancers. My engagement ring is a 7 and it's a smidge big on me, I tried on size 7 enhancers it fit perfectly and held my engagement ring in place. The jeweler whom you ordered your ring from would be the expert on size.

We switched out the enhancers from yellow gold to rose. The yellow, I remember them telling me was like 7 1/4. It stuck with me because it was an odd sizing. But it fit perfectly, and I snagged the one right there in the store, so I didn't have to worry about getting the sizing right again.

Well then, we switched out our gold, there's a whole story behind this and why we chose too. Originally they said it would be 12 weeks, but 3 days later they had one. It came from another store. I happen to see on the bag that is was 8 1/4. I remarked on it, and they said it was the same as before... but I *really* don't think so. It stayed on, although it was a bit loose because my engagement ring in the middle was a 7.

So, I don't know what to do... I don't want to make a big stink out of it, but I don;t want to have to worry about sending it in to get sized after the fact and being without my ring for 3 weeks either. My grandfather, who was a jeweler by trade raised me with my grandmother. So I know a thing or two about jewelry, but back when he was still in the business, they didn't really have enhancers, more like wraps or bands to go with a wedding set.

I've just seen a lot of women on here suggesting them or mentioning they have or are getting one. So I was hoping they could should some light on what size they ordered and how much bigger, if any, it was than their e-ring.

If I trusted my professionals that might work, JoRocka, but I am not sure I do, because it would mean more work for them.

Like I said above I was just hoping the ladies on here that have purchased enhancers could share what size they ordered, and if there was any sizing difference from their engagement rings, *before* I go back to the store and start pursuing this.

I think that if you distinctly remember that the size of the enhancer you first bought was 7 1/4 then you should request that they change it. Honestly I don't think enhancers need to be any bigger than your Ering. Not that I would know but it should be the same. .

My enhancer and ring are the same size, but my ering had to be reset to fit inside the enhancer. This is me trying on bands but what looks like a single ering is actually a solitaire inside of an enhancer. Hope this helps...

Alexandra, there are bands that run along the back that push the e-ring a bit forward so to speak. So then you end up with a bit more narrow opening. So if you want the same size 7 opening as you wear, I think you should probably have to size up a bit to accommodate that.

Keri, what do you mean "reset"? Mine just slid into place, and kind of "locked". I didn't want them soldered, in case I ever need to send the enhancer in, I at least have my e-ring.

Mine slides into place like you said, but the setting was originally too low for it to fit into the enhancer, so they had to change the diamond into a setting that sits higher. I got mine soldered and then got it reversed because it was too chunky to slide on and off easily.

I'm having this issue too. It's making it hard because I ordered online. My e-ring is 5.25 so I ordered the enhancer in a 5.5 and it's ridiculously tight when it's with my e-ring. Alone it's fine but obviously the point was not to wear it alone. I sent It back and ordered a 5.75. I'm still debating if I should change my order to a 6 it stresses me out.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one, Becoming a Mrs. I think I am gonna go to another store and see if they carry my style in the store (mine doesn't). I think I'll call first and ask, see if they can tell me sizes too. Hopefully, I'll find at least 2 different sizes to try. It sucks, cause they have to order it, and then wait for it to come in before you even get to try it and see. FI is in that situation right now... 12 weeks. Since mine was a special order for the rose gold, I don't want to chance losing out altogether if they can't find another or the manufacturer doesn't want to make on in it. I was SO damn happy to be able to find it and get in rose gold, I don't want to push my luck. But at the same time, I don't want to have to send it out after I get married too if I find I really do need a smaller size. The whole thing is kind of a pain, but I LOVE my ring....

The enhancers have sides braces around bottom of sides. If you look where they set. It takes the actual enhancer your looking at thats a 7 to a 6. When you minus the space eRing rest on. You should always size up enhancers.

I just bought my ring enhancer yesterday!! I love it. I was also told that ring enhancer size differently. My engagement ring is a 5 and does move around. So the ring enhancer, I thought, was going to have to be a 4.5 (which is actually my ring size). However, my ring enhancer is a 5 and fits perfectly with my engagement ring sitting in the middle.

If your engagement ring fits and you add the ring enhancer it should be sized up. I had to get my ring cut off because they didn’t! My engagement ring is resized to 6.5 and they are reordering my ring enhancer to be a size 7. I’m not sure yet if they will be sizing up my engagement ring as I’m still in the process of getting everything fixed. If it seems too tight, trust yourself and have them resize your finger! Good luck to you!
