Forest/woodsy CT ceremony?

Mel, on January 6, 2017 at 2:25 PM Posted in Connecticut Planning 0 7

Hello everyone!

So I've been searching and searching with out much luck. I would really love to have a ceremony in the forest or the edge of a forest. I'm having a very small wedding with maybe 30 people total. I'm trying to figure out a place that I could have the ceremony/exchange of vows at that would have a woodsy feel. this would be just for this part and then we would move on to a different place for food. I just can't figure out where or how to make this happen!

Steep Rock Preserve in Washington Depot! That's where we did our e-pics.

And then you can go to GW Tavern or something for a reception!

Southford Falls on the Southbury/Oxford line is gorgeous. We will probably do our wedding photos there.

There are several campgrounds in Litchfield County near Torrington, Harwinton, and Burlington. I'm sure they would let you set up a ceremony at one of them near the woods. Johnnycake Mountain in Burlington is very pretty too.

Would you consider doing your vows at the top of Mount Southington Ski Area? I went to a wedding in Vermont like that. Everyone took the lift to the top of the hill, and they had chairs set up overlooking the rest of the property.

Hey Mel! Congrats! check out Wickham park in Manchester, CT. I am not sure if it is 'woodsy' enough, or too far for what you are thinking, but definitively beautiful! Good luck on your search. I am in the same boat with finding the perfect spot!
