I went to a bridal shop today that I set an appointment for back in October at a Bridal Show. The owner raved about how they cater to and have such beautiful plus sized samples. When I got there she had dresses pulled for me already. They were size 14 and 16. I told her I wore an 18 W at DB and a 24 everywhere else. Finally she let me try a dress she was steaming that had just come back from a show. It was a size 22...I would need an 18. She went on and on about how exclusive the dress was to her shop and no others in a 50 mile radius had it. She wanted me to put down 30% of the total which was $707 with tax because that was the only way to secure the fabric blah blah blah. She put a veil, some earrings and a rhinestone sash on me that all came over $1000 before tax and in addition to the dress price. I told her that I am certain this is the dress I want but I was not prepared due to unforeseen health issues to put down the deposit. 10 minutes after leaving her shop my bridesmaid found the dress on the designer's site for almost half and that was the original price no discounts. I know they have to make a profit but at least don't be dumb enough to give up all the pertinent info when tying to screw someone over. FH will purchasing the dress on Sunday if I don't see something else I like at DB next Saturday.
