Found Wedding Dress for less than half online...

Naomi, on December 13, 2021 at 12:50 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 3

I went to a bridal shop today that I set an appointment for back in October at a Bridal Show. The owner raved about how they cater to and have such beautiful plus sized samples. When I got there she had dresses pulled for me already. They were size 14 and 16. I told her I wore an 18 W at DB and a 24 everywhere else. Finally she let me try a dress she was steaming that had just come back from a show. It was a size 22...I would need an 18. She went on and on about how exclusive the dress was to her shop and no others in a 50 mile radius had it. She wanted me to put down 30% of the total which was $707 with tax because that was the only way to secure the fabric blah blah blah. She put a veil, some earrings and a rhinestone sash on me that all came over $1000 before tax and in addition to the dress price. I told her that I am certain this is the dress I want but I was not prepared due to unforeseen health issues to put down the deposit. 10 minutes after leaving her shop my bridesmaid found the dress on the designer's site for almost half and that was the original price no discounts. I know they have to make a profit but at least don't be dumb enough to give up all the pertinent info when tying to screw someone over. FH will purchasing the dress on Sunday if I don't see something else I like at DB next Saturday.

I'm sorry to hear that Naomi, but it's also incredible that you found the same dress at a way better price!! 🙌

Thank you. It's okay. I understand she has to make a profit. I am glad I found it cheaper.

    Shopping around is ALWAYS smart.

Second-hand/consignment websites sometimes have current season brand new dresses at a fraction of the price. Sometimes a bride will change her mind or call off the wedding and want to resell an unworn dress that has had no alterations and still has the tags on. I also once saw a GORGEOUS dress on closeout on a designers website for $150. The designer was changing her brand and wanting to clear out her stock of the dress (brand new, not samples) that represented her "older style" and only had a couple sizes available. All of the stores carrying that model had it at the retail cost still, but if you happened to be the size the designer had available and were smart enough to search her website, you would have gotten a STEAL because I don't think the materials alone were that cheap.

    I love good deals!
