Finding foundation is one thing. However, before that, you need to properly prep your skin by regularly hydrating and using extra moisturizer with professional products (my fav: Embryolisse Lait-creme concentre). Also you need a good primer (I like: Inglot) That way you’ll have a better prepared “canvas” when applying the foundation. I realize that drugstore or Sephora brand makeup is popular. But you might want to try Pro brands with HD formulas. MakeUp Forever (which is actually sold at Sephora) has nice cream sticks as well as their liquid foundations. Another one of my favorites is Graftobian cream foundation (a little goes a long way). Keep in mind that good brushes make a huge difference too (my favs: Bdellium brushes). Also, with dry skin, setting powder or any powder should be used very minimally (if at all) and again HD formulas. Overall definitely begin a good and regular toning and moisturizing routine. What facial cleanser do you use? That’s important too.

My MUA used the Nars one when I did my trial and I had told her I had dry skin at that time. It was nice

Would you consider opting out of foundation?

NARS is good on dry skin (but it is a little pricey). I love Tarte’s Amazonian clay foundation, but again that is also a little pricey so it depends what you are willing to spend on foundation.

Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation is awesome. I hate the way foundation feels on my skin and dries me out, but I could wear this every day if I wanted to. Always make sure to first moisturize before putting on foundation still.

Too Faced Born This Way. I always wear it but I wore it especially on my wedding day and it looked amazing! Make sure you also prime your face and get a good setting spray.

I agree with pp about properly prepping your skin before applying makeup. Some exfoliating and good moisturizing and priming will go a long way. I would recommend steering away from more matte foundation finishes if you’re on the dryer side and look for something with more of a satin or dewy finish, but also utilizing a good setting spray to make sure it’s long wearing.

Use a face cream and then a hydrating primer. I use Armani luminous silk foundation. Urban decay makes a great all nighter setting spray and I believe they also make a hydrating setting spray as well.
