Four Weddings

I had never seen this show, but I just discovered it on netflix. I'm not usually much for reality tv (I can't stand all the drama/bridezilla crap), But this show is great, and makes me think of what the guest sees when they go to a wedding. I would love to apply to be on the show, but they aren't casting in my city :-( Does anyone know if the ones who don't get the honeymoon get paid or maybe a small gift package? I can't imagine getting nothing for letting all these cameras in my face, etc.

I don't think the other contestants win anything... but I love that show! I'm watching it on Netflix right now too!

I love this show, they actually did an episode in early December that was 3 out of 4 at the Jersey shore, where I grew up. I was bouncing on the couch reminiscing as FH slept in the recliner chair. A couple of weeks ago they did a whole episode in Seattle WA, where I work now....it's a great show.

I wanted to apply to show too until I read there was no compensation to the wedding couple. Its a competition. Winner gets dream vacation. Losers get nothing, just tv exposure of their wedding. And then you run the risk of winning a vacation you are not into. I see a lot of brides winning trips to Mexico and Dominican republic. I"d be wishing for borabora or Fiji or some place exotic like that.

While it is a competition, it's kind of ridiculous to ask people to give up that kind of time (I am an actor and have done filming, and the footage they have would take days and days) and the possibility of their wedding being ruined (cameras everywhere and such, them asking for retakes, scipring stuff, etc), for only a 1 in 4 chance of winning a trip that is not that exciting. You are right Maureen, I would expect better trips for the risk- especially considering I'm sure it's all sponsored so they basically get it for free-then it's all revenue. I mean "four weddings" is written everywhere, like on their placecards, etc. I'm surprised they don't pay for something at the weddings, or they all get small gifts or something. So I guess I'm not that sad they aren't casting in my area. I'll just continue to watch and get ideas :-)

My sister is addicted to the show. She watches it all the time. Occasionally I hear screams from the living...." YES! I freaking love this show!! I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL YOUR WEDDING!" Lol, it's hilarious to me. I could live without the show. But she loves them!

It almost seems rigged! The ones who spent the most on their wedding (and thus could probably afford their own honeymoon) always wins.

See, I hate that show. It makes women seem so judgmental and bitchy. Plus, it encourages the behavior of people going to a wedding to criticize it.

Jesse's Girl I am so with you. I think its disgusting how they sit around judging every tiny little thing. Just because its not their taste some will say it was the worst Wedding ever. It is encouraging them to be hatful towards someones #1 day just so they can maybe win a prize.

Also most of the shows I saw the brides had $70k-$100k budgets. How can they not afford their own Honeymoon?

I honestly have never seen people so critical of others' weddings until that show and then posting here. I honestly couldn't care less what other people do at their wedding. It's THEIR wedding and YOU'RE a GUEST... meaning, you didn't pay for anything there. Be thankful.

Yea i'm not a fan of that show. i agree that it is a different perspective for weddings and will make you think abotu what a guest sees, but ...

how dare anyone criticize how the bride looks, the ceremony, or anything that they have spent so much time and effort. honestly - it's a party. don't nitpick it like you paid a million dollars to be there

    /end rant.

I also don't like that the criticize the weather. Hello? No bride can control the weather. I'm sure everyone wishes for their wedding, especially outdoor ones/ceremonies that it would be warm, comfortable and sunny. But guess what, doesn't work that way.

It's true, I dislike the part where they get all catty and try to tear down each others weddings so they can win. I have only seen three episodes, and they started off not bad at all, but they do seem to have gotten progressively worse. I do anticipate not being able to watch it anymore at some point. But, I do think some of the complaining is justified. I mean yes, it sucks that they complain about the weather, but I think sometimes they are complaining that no one thought about what to do if the weather did this or that. I'd like to think I'm prepared for any eventualities- shawls if it's freezing (or the ability to get some), or a place to have the ceremony if it rains. I mean there was that one bride for who the power went out, and she handled it really well, and I doubt she got any points off for that. It makes me remember that I need to watch the forecast, and maybe get up early and check on the weather, and bring blankets if it's cold, etc. These are things I like to...

...think about because I do plan events professionally. I haven't done anyone else's wedding yet, but I think I'm interested in that, and I would like to be a wedding planner that is "always prepared"- like a boyscout- LOL.I'd like to think of things like planning how far the bathroom is going to be, or shade for people during the ceremony (for my own wedding I worked really hard to find an outdoor area that is shaded for my 5th of July wedding so no one passes out, because I can't imagine anything worse). Also, I like finding out what food is good and what food isn't- although I'm rarely surprised. Wedding food can so easily be bland, boring, cold, or dry.

I agree that the most traditional ones tend to win, which is dissapointing. Maybe they could start another show based on less traditional brides, and then none of them would be specifically looking for that (as none of them did it themselves?). I do dislike that they have all different budgets, because yes, putting a $5000...

Budget is kind of mean. I personally think the show would be more interesting if they started with the brides before they started planning, gave them a specific budget (with them paying). Then followed them around seeing what they did to keep within it, and what cool things they could do with it. Then they could also look at invites, save the dates, how to shoose the wedding party, and a million other things they miss on the show now.
