Free digital/email Save-the-dates recommendations?

Mayene, on April 25, 2022 at 4:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

We're looking to save on resources and costs by sending out digital save-the-dates — does anyone have any recommendations for free save-the-dates? I typically have used Evite in the past for casual events and birthdays, but I noticed that Evite's Save-The-Dates still keep RSVP information up and you can't remove it (would it be weird to have people optionally RSVP with a Save-The-Date?).

Another option we are considering is just emailing people (and BCC'ing) the list so that we have complete control over the image. We're thinking of having a short message in the email body and attaching a PDF or JPG with our design. Would this be too weird? We had one couple friend that did that a couple years ago, though it doesn't seem too common.

You can do a PDF email, or I recommend Paperless Post. There are free designs as well as paid, and you're able to track who has actually opened and seen it.

It’s considered “not popular” due to lack of technology but save the dates for decades have always been free of cost by word of mouth or over the phone. They were and still are very efficient methods of getting the information across to all invited guests at the 6-12 month timeframe.

    Oh, that's an interesting point!

We've definitely told our closest friends and family in person or over the phone/video calls to block the date in our calendars, we were just looking for something a little bit more solid that people could reference if they actually forgot to mark it in their calendars. We don't really see people much currently and about half of our friends and family are out-of-state, but we also don't want everyone to just "spread the word" either since we can't invite everyone due to our venue capacity and just setting a budget.

We figure the majority of our guest list are friends and family our age that are tech-savvy and older family members, we'll also double check with a phone call.
