Free honeymoon? Is it really free?

Kristina, on January 2, 2011 at 11:24 AM Posted in Planning 0 12

Okay so we won a "free" honeymoon from Viva 2 night resort vacation. from Wyndham resorts. It is to either mexico, bahamas, or dominican republic. Two nights are free and they say we can add more nights to it, of course we would have to pay for it lol. I was wondering has anyone won this? and if so did you go/how was the experience? We won as well as 8 other couples. They do it every year. I would greatly appreciate it if I can get some feedback from the honeymoon package.

Thanks!!!

We hear this "package" alot on here, and brides are always questioning if it is legit. My advice: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Be very, very wary of a "free" honeymoon. As Hilary said, "if it sounds too good to be true...."

LaQuisha-thanks so much! FH and I were going to call the place in a few weeks. We have to mail our paper in by June so if you get any info on it and what is really free that would be great!!

I know! when i got the phone call FH immediately was like dont get your hopes up just in case. Things like this never happen to people so I am still a little iffy.

    Thanks!!!

Yes, that's what we had to do. Sit through a 2 hour presentation about Regal pots and pans, and at the very beginning they told us there is no timeshare so that's why I am a little iffy about it :-/

Wyndham Resorts is a timeshare company. They offer you 2 free nights, but at least half of the day you have there is taken up by 'touring' their resort and sitting through their presentation.

You may get a few hours around the area, but probably not. I did one once, and the saleperson kept us in his office for 3 hours- after the 2 hour presentation- trying to convince me it was a good deal.

My advice- RUN! You won't get a vacation at all, be harassed every day you decide to stay and they are more expensive than a real hotel/resort. The airfare isn't worth 2 nights.

I have a friend who buys into the timeshare for Wyndham Resorts and he's really happy with them. He goes to Cabo every year.

I would also be very careful not to sign any documents with them, make a pact with your FS to refrain from signing anything. One more warning, I one got a "free" vacation when I bought a car, well when my sister compared the hotels quoted prices, to the fees and taxes and charges, the "free" vacation was more expensive.

Thanks Fun Bride! He def is the type to want to know and read everything before he signs anything so that is def a good quality Smiley smile The more I am reading from everyone, the more i feel it just will be better to just book a legit honeymoon and just get rid of the "free" package that we received. Less hassles in the end Smiley smile
