Freelance makeup artist?

A., on April 2, 2018 at 8:44 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 22

Does anyone know of any freelance or just in general cheap makeup/hair artists in the Long Island, NYC/Brooklyn area? Thanks!

Less than $100 for hair and makeup - 7 people. i'm not looking to do airbrush or anything like that. i just want simple. i'm not paying $300 for my hair and makeup, which is what most artists want.

Check with the artist at places like Sephora, Ulta beauty, MAC make-up counters or even department store make-up counters. A lot of them do free-lance work. Or ask a few local hair salons if they do free-lance work and maybe work with any MUA.
I found my MUA by searching area hashtags for MUA on IG. Love her already and the price is reasonable.

Maybe try searching on Instagram? Like search hashtags for like #mua #freelanceMUA and your area? I also second going to Sephora/Ulta. My friend is now a full time freelance MUA but worked at MAC in ulta while she was just doing it on the side.

I’m on Long Island and couldn’t find anyone that cheap after many hours of searching and phone calls. Very frustrating!! I would probably opt for a MAC counter or Sephora. They’ll do your makeup and the client typically buys something they used in the application.

Check on Facebook for someone who sells makeup such as younique etc. They may be willing to do your make up for their sale pages for a cheaper amount or free.

Less than $100 per person or total for seven total? If it’s total for seven, I doubt you’ll find anyone that is charging so little. Also, the thing about walking into a MAC/Sephora counter and trying to get a free makeover is that they may stop go help other customers. Maybe try Thumbtack to see if you can find at least a person to do your own makeup and let your BM get theirs done before they arrive/ do it themselves.

Often times, you get what you pay for. There’s no way you’re finding anyone to do hair and makeup for $100 for you, let alone 7 people. It’s completely unrealistic, particularly in NYC or on Long Island.

Hi! I didn’t really have one and it’s just for me, my mom and my fiancé’s mom. I just started getting quotes and the majority of them were $200-250 for me and $100 for the moms. So insane! I just ended up biting the bullet and picking one that would travel to me and do an early wedding on a Sunday. Good luck!

    ****... Rhoda. Long Island based.
She's good and charge 100 and less. She's doing my bridesmaids makeup for 50 and she charges about 100 for bride. And negotiable based on what you want.
