Friday night wedding

Amandaw, on April 19, 2017 at 3:55 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

I am having a friday wedding. The venue has listed times as 5:30pm to 6pm ceremony, 6pm to 7pm cocktail hr, and reception 7pm to 10pm. I was thinking of moving the ceremony to 6pm and only having a 30 minute cocktail hr. Is this a good idea? We dont have a huge wedding party or family. Wedding is only 50 people. We also dont want to do drawn out pics since this will be hard after loosing my mom in august. Thoughts?

I would keep your ceremony at 5:30 because sometimes things run a little late and you don't want to be crunched in all of the things that you want to do that evening.

If there are apps at the cocktail hour you may not want to rush it.

There arent going to be many apps at cocktail hr since we will be having a 3 course sit down dinner very short into the reception (having a bunch of kids there and dont want to feed everyone to latet)

Our cocktail hour lasted about 30min with apps. We had our ceremony and reception in the same place but on opposite sides of the room, so the tables were ready and in plain view. 30min after cocktail hour started is when guests decide to begin finding their seats and sitting down. All our appetizers were eaten and we had an open bar all night, so this didn't change a thing. Once our guests sat down dinner was beginning to be served. No big deal and I barely noticed, things just moved right along.

All but 2 are local. The venue is about 30 to 45 minutes from everyone else. But some are teachers and 20 are kids. I am just worried since school bus doesnt drop off til 4:30pm people wont have time to get there. Should i ask some of my guests their thoughts (since we are so close as friends)?

Sometimes venue requires the hour to prep for the reception. If there going to photos during cocktail hour, you'll probably want to full hour.

If you could bump everything back a half hour that would probably be good since a lot of people work until 5. It would be hard for me to make it on time to a 5:30 wedding.
