Friday or Saturday wedding

Which are you choosing? What made you decide on that? Some venues have lower prices on Fridays and others are full price.

I'm doing Saturday to make it easier for out of town guests to come in. My venue doesn't charge more for Saturdays though.

We intentionally chose a Friday wedding. We are getting married in an area of my state that many of our guests haven't really visited before, and since everyone is traveling to attend our wedding, we figured that a Friday wedding would give everyone all day Saturday to see the area if they choose, before heading home on Sunday.

Originally our wedding was supposed to be on a Friday, but when we had to postpone to this year due to COVID, we were allowed to keep the same calendar date, which falls on a Saturday this year, for no additional charge. So at the end of the day we got Friday pricing for a Saturday wedding!

We're doing Saturday! It's pricier for sure, but it was a way to ensure most of our guest list could actually come.

We're doing Saturday, but that's because half our guests will be traveling from out of state so it makes it easier.

We're doing Friday not because of cost but because the date itself is special to us. However, almost everyone is local so travel isn't an issue.

Saturday because that's the only day our church does weddings. It's a bit more for the reception on a Saturday than a Friday or other day of the week, but the church was the most important part for us.

We were open to thursdays or fridays when we had to pospone - we weren't sure what we'd be able to get at our venue! But in the end we had a saturday. The one day we didn't want was a sunday. We both felt that most people are focussed on the week ahead and wouldn't really relax and enjoy themselves the way they would for a friday or saturday wedding.

    Saturday.
I’m from NJ. Fiancé is from Florida. My family is in NJ and OH, his is in GA, FL, and TX. We live near DC and all of our friends are here.
No matter where we got married it would have been distance for everyone so we’re getting married in SC.We didn’t want travel to be super expensive for everyone we’re not getting married over a school break (I’m a teacher and so are all of my friends). We figured that if we got married on Saturday, the majority of people would come into town Friday night or Saturday morning and could leave Sunday so they aren’t having to take too much time off work.

We originally had our date for Saturday, but do to 3k price difference we actually changed it to Sunday. When we first got engaged, we had no idea Saturday was the most popular day to get married on. Every venue we looked at (and we look at a TON) had Saturday as the priciest day.

Saturday .. Definitely pricier but the place we are getting married at is a bed and breakfast so we will spend the night Friday night get married Saturday and spend the night again and then leave Sunday! It’s awesome because we can also set up the day before !! 🤗

Saturday for us too. It was a must even though it is the most expensive day and most Saturdays were already booked when we started shopping 16 months ahead! We live in Orlando but most of my family is still in NJ so they all have to travel here. And Saturday is also more convenient for our local friends as well. I ended up nixing the Disney wedding entirely because the price difference is ridiculous and no cast member discounts on Saturday either.

Sunday! I’m a little nervous about it especially being it’s out of town but it was $3k cheaper for Sunday than Saturday at my venue

Should I worry about a Sunday wedding? Our wedding is out of town but that Monday is a federal holiday and it was just more affordable

We chose Saturday as we wanted people to feel like they were going to a Saturday night party and also because Saturday’s give people adequate time to get dressed and enjoy the day without the logistics of managing work and a Friday commute.

If the Monday is a holiday then I wouldn't, no! And to be honest even if it wasn't, it might not be an issue. For our Saturday wedding, a bunch of people came down the night before which we expected (even though we're only 1.5 hours drive away, so not destination as such) but what surprised us more, was quite a lot of people took the opportunity to take a little holiday, and stayed until Monday! So, if people are keen to party (and it seems like lots of people are open to any excuse with the pandemic having kept people apart for a while!) they will!

I wouldn't worry too much so long as your guests know the day of the week far enough in advance. My wedding was a Tuesday (following a Monday Federal holiday) and it worked out just fine. Most guests were able to come who were within 2-3 hr driving distance. The ones who declined were mostly those who would have to fly to get there.

Saturday! My guests had a long road to come... so it'll be very difficult for them to be there on Friday.
