Friday or Sunday wedding?

Hey girls! I am new to this but so far I love this site. I am curious to your ideas on which is better to have a Friday or Sunday wedding. If we have it on Friday we will be able to have the reception until 11pm and on Sunday until 10pm. I am worried about people having to take off work, but also we...

Hey girls! I am new to this but so far I love this site. I am curious to your ideas on which is better to have a Friday or Sunday wedding. If we have it on Friday we will be able to have the reception until 11pm and on Sunday until 10pm. I am worried about people having to take off work, but also we may not have as many people come if we have it on a sunday or they may have to leave earlier. oh geeze LOL

    I am doing a Friday wedding and my reception venue is giving a HUGE discount because of it. It seems like every place I looked had a discount for friday receptions.

    I know this is late - so this comment is for others determining their date. I strongly believe an early Sunday is better. Having a wedding at 5 on a Friday - especially if it is an hour or further away from most guests, is very difficult. Many can't get out 2 or 3 hours off work. On a Sunday, you can have an early wedding - around 2 or 3. People can still get home at a reasonable time, and taking off work isn't necessary.

    I know this is an old thread but bumping to see what everyone's recent experience was.

    Friday - obviously great for guests who can take a half day off (LA to OC traffic on a Friday is especially horrible). And for out of towners, they'll have the weekend to enjoy host city.

    Sunday - as someone mentioned, may be good to have Saturday, especially for bridal/groom party to help out. One less day off from work. BUT for out of towners, they either have to fly red-eye that night (probably not since they may not be able to leave wedding early enough) or stay another night in host city.

    So for those of you who attended or had a wedding on Friday or Sunday - what was the consensus? Keep in mind we have about 15-25 guests flying from out of town, including a few in bridal/groom party and the drive is long from LA to Santa Ana (OC).

    Ours is the same. Sunday at 4, ending by 10. FH and all of his guest list will be coming from out of state.
