Friday the 13th

Is it wrong or disrespectful to ask a venue if they do discounts for weddings that fall on Friday the 13th?

A lot of venues have discounts for Fridays and Sundays. Although some consider Friday part of the "weekend" and only give discounts for Sunday thru Thursday. I don't think there's anything wrong with asking if there is a Friday discount. Idk why it would be special just because it's the 13th though..

I don't know why you would ask for a discount?? It's not a holiday or anything?? Just a superstitious day. I guess I'm confused on why you would ask for a discount on for Friday the 13th?

You can ask but don't be surprised if you don't get one.

Fridays can run a bit cheaper, but Friday the 13th inandof itself does not warrant a discount.

A couple we looked at actually brought that up to us. I never would have thought about otherwise. Fridays are usually cheaper regardless of superstition.

My venue said that many couples take advantage of Friday the 13th for "spooky" feel. That was one of the dates fully booked. However my venue is an old English town, so it fits.

It's just a day. And your anniversary won't fall on a Friday again for years. So no you can't ask for a discount. Because someone else will swoop that date up full price.

Some people would specifically choose Friday the 13th simply for that date. I know my cousin did. It's not like venues are going to be desperate to book it.

But asking for a discount never hurts anyway. My venue already the two October dates I wanted booked and he offered me September 30... since it wasn't what I originally wanted he gave me 10% off. Some places will gladly help if they can tell it's something you really want

Always ask for a discount!! With every vendor. You'd be surprised at how many will lower their price. A hundred here and a hundred there adds up.

My venue only gave discounts for M-Th weddings. Fri-Sun were weekend rates. Weekdays, however, were half price. This worked for us, as the majority of our guests are in town. I don't think the 13th matters. Any month that starts on a Sunday has a Friday the 13th. It isn't that special lol

    ETA: grammar

The worst thing the venue can do is say no. Ask!

We're getting married on Friday the 13th for two reasons:

    1. We have a smaller wedding so we really had no choice if we wanted to have it at our venue it had to be a Friday

    2. We are big Halloween people but did not want to pay a premium for October plus I have a lot of fall weddings to go so we decided on Friday April 13th!

Lol, I don't think so. You'll probably get a straight up Friday discount though.

My parents were married on a Friday the 13th almost 40 years ago. They didn't seek it out, but it didn't bother them.

You can always ask for a discount, but I doubt you will get one.

    @Jessica, we are date twins!

My venue only gives discounts for "off season" which starts on November 1st. Since I wanted foliage, we didn't want to wait that long. I was actually offered the 20th or the 13th and I noped the idea of Friday the 13th.

You don't get discounts for superstitions, that's silly. H and I specifically chose Friday the 13th because we thought it was funny and suited us. We paid full price. If you don't want to get married on a superstitious day, is a discount really going to make you feel better about it?

My friend got married Friday the 13th and got a huge discount on the venue for that reason. But that was in the OC so it kinda fits.
