Friday Wedding In Texas

Matt, on November 7, 2019 at 6:14 PM Posted in Texas Planning 0 4
Strongly considering a Friday wedding in Dallas or Houston (love the venue but only dates available are on Fridays), everyone would be flying in for the ceremony. What is a good start time? (Considering 5pm for an April wedding) The Venue gives us a two hour window from start to finish including dress/make up everything. (It’s a $2,200 rental cost from the Venue for the Ceremony only, not including a photographer).

Unfortunately due to costs we’ll likely only do the Ceremony there and have the reception elsewhere.

(To do the reception there it’s an additional $1,000-$2,000 plus a $4,000 minimum food order, another $1,000 for a Bar along with the 19% service fees and taxes which are another $1,000).

We’re expecting a guest list of 50-60 people total.

Thoughts, tips, advice anything helps Smiley smile

    Hey there, Matt.

Welcome to the WeddingWire community Smiley smile

If all your guests are flying in for the wedding, you could really have the ceremony at anytime. If guests were all local, I would recommend having it later in the afternoon/evening so people could come after work, however, it sounds like everyone has to take the entire day regardless.

The best thing to do would be to start at the end, and work your way back. Using your reception end time, work backwards to figure out the best time to have the ceremony. Don’t forget to speak with your photographer once you book one to get his/her input on the timeline. This vendor would have the biggest impact on your timeline. I hope these tips help out Smiley smile

Have you started looking into reception venues?

We have been looking Day and Night at reception venues, but haven’t nailed one down yet. The wedding venue has two identical locations one in Houston, one in Dallas and wherever we find a great reception venue we will go with that one. The only thing is they have different dates available at each location so until we pick a venue we can’t go any farther as far as booking a photographer.

That is a good idea though about doing the ceremony earlier. If we want a 3-4 hour reception what would be a good time to start the wedding?

I’ve been to two wedding ceremonies in the past couple months and the ceremony itself I don’t believe lasted more than an hour, though I’m sure there’s more time involved getting the bride and groom ready.

I'm from Houston!! What's the name of the venue y'all are looking at? I'm pretty familiar with all of them at this point! The cost of venues in Houston was so significant that we decided on getting married in College Station. I graduated from Texas A&M and he went to firefighting school there so it was somewhat significant to us!

    Hey Taylor!

We’re getting married at Ashton Gardens they have identical locations in Dallas and Houston and my bride to be loved them. It was a little bit expensive for a reception there since we’re only expecting 50 guests, but they charge you regardless for a minimum of 100 people for the reception.

Aww that’s cute, y’all are a cute couple and I’m glad y’all found somewhere that was in your budget and was special for y’all too!

If you have any suggestions on time of day or a good place(s) for a reception let us know.
