Friday Wedding - Invitations/rsvp

Bethany, on January 11, 2020 at 8:13 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

Hey y'all!

We are having a Friday wedding, and I've looked through the forums but the only thing I couldn't get answer for us WHEN to send out invitations; because we aren't sending out save the dates!

We chose a Friday because we have a lot of family flying/driving long distances in and wanted a full weekend with them. So they all already know the date we've chosen to make proper accommodations for time off work/school.

Also, do you put a drop in the envelope with the website to RSVP? Or do you think physical return RSVP cards do better? (we were just trying to cut that extra expense.)

Generally 2-3 months out is good for invitations I think...also the RSVP situation really depends on the crowd you’re inviting. If you have a lot of people who don’t like things being online (like older relatives perhaps?) the physical cards are better. Usually I feel like online RSVPs are wayyy more convenient and also cost effective.

Because you aren't doing save the dates, I would send them 12 weeks out (about 3 months beforehand). I think an online-only RSVP is fine as long as all of your guests are tech-savvy, so you can include an insert in your invitation envelope with the website link to RSVP at and the deadline.

Invitations are typically sent 6-8 weeks before your wedding. I wouldn’t send much earlier than 10 weeks, as people tend to misplace/lose them. We did online RSVPs and it worked very well for us, even our older guests did it with no issues. It was printed on the RSVP line of the invitation “Please RSVP by (date) at (website)”.

I'd send out invites 3 months out since you aren't doing save the dates & since it's on a Friday.
