It's less expensive and the guests are happy they get a whole weekend to relax afterwards. It also means that the venue will have less of a chance to double book because Saturday weddings are so popular.

It ultimately comes down to what time (after or before regular work/school hours end) and if you're ok with people RSVPing "no" because they can't get off work. If you're fine with some nos and/or need/would like a smaller wedding, then I say go for it!

We chose Friday because it is cheaper and then we can take an extra weekend for the honeymoon! I'm really excited about it Smiley smile

I've been to two Friday weddings - one out of town and one in town. Both were great!

Something to consider: The in town wedding started at 6pm which was a little crazy with rush hour traffic. You may have to be okay with delaying the wedding to account for this, depending on your area.

Depending on where you live, be prepared for people to be late due to traffic.

For me I live in Atlanta and Friday had the worst traffic. If I had to attend a Friday wedding it would mean I have to leave work early depending on what side of town so I guess it really depends on your city. I will say though that I wouldn't mind taking off to attend a close friend or family wedding, just not everyone is able

Why not? You'll never fine a day of the week that suits everyone. If it works for ye and your vips go for it.

I'm doing mine the friday before President's day. Most of my in town guests are close family and will most likely be taking the day off. Most of my out of towners are excited because they're making a nice trip out of it with the long weekendSmiley smile I also saved $3000 so I'm happy about that.

You'll have more Venue availability since it's not an over popular option yet.

I would always prefer a saturday wedding and think you'll have a little less declines if people are traveling or can't get off work. I think it's super common now though and definitely do able. I would make my best effort to go to one but I would try to make the ceremony a bit later and think of work schedules and traffic. We had our rehearsal the Friday before around 5 and everyone was so late due to the traffic that day, 3 people missed it completely and met us for dinner.

@Amy; not a popular option? Sorry, it's been a popular option for years and in my area, for people planning for next year? They'll find as few Fridays as Saturdays.

You're talking Friday in the summer. If you're in even a remotely touristy area, all bets are off. Guests seem to forget that there is traffic and consistently don't plan for it, which I find pretty hilarious and rude at the same time. It's Friday. Of course there is traffic around 5:00....but they seem to be consistently shocked.

Time doesn't matter, honestly. Unless your guests are literally around the corner, they can't go to work, leave, get dressed and be at your ceremony by any time before 8:00, which is a little late. They need to make a commitment to taking a half day or a day off. Or they say no.

Don't delay your wedding waiting for anyone. Decide when you'll do it and do it. Why anyone would schedule a rehearsal on a Friday at 5:00, when pretty much no one needs one anyway, is beyond my understanding. No one wants to go to that anyway (sorry Dani, but truth) and I"m sure your wedding went off just fine.....

Book your wedding when you want to book it. We are booking Wednesdays and Thursdays now, for a number of reasons. If a guest can't arrange to come, a guests says no.

We had a Friday wedding and we had a less than 5% decline rate. If you give people enough advance notice, you will be fine! I loved having all day Saturday to recouperate and talk with our families before leaving for the honeymoon Sunday.

I'm thinking of Friday for us! The only thing I'm worried about is some people not coming due to work, but all of our "need" to be there people would be there no matter the day!

Booking on a Friday (in peak season) allows us some extra money to put elsewhere such as food. Some guests may not be able to make it, but I want to make sure that the ones that do have great food & drinks and a fun time. We are inviting approximately 150 guests but most are local and the location of the venue is a farm in the middle of Lancaster PA so traffic won't be an issue. But those are some great concerns brought up by others.

We had a Friday wedding. Scheduled to start at 5 pm but it didn't start until much later because a lot of people got stuck in Friday out of town traffic. That was something we hadn't planned on. But something to keep in mind. Good luck!
