I think it’s fine, but keep two things in mind:


1 - when putting the date on anything (save the dates, invites, websites, etc.) consider putting “Friday the date” or something. Yes people will look up the date even if you don’t but it helps to get it into their heads that it’s a Friday and they need to plan accordingly!
2 - I do not recommend starting any sooner than 5:30. Maybe even 6 if you are able. A friend of mine just got married at 5:00 on a Friday and I left work early and tried to plan for the drive time and everything and was still 15 minutes late 😢 it was my own fault of course but still sad. If you want to put 5:00 on the invites and plan to actually start at 5:15, that might work, too.

My wedding is in March 2023. I sent my save the date out already because most of my guests are coming from out of town.

We’re getting married on Friday, June 9th, 2023 at sunset. I’m a teacher, so my fellow teachers are able to attend and with it being that time of night, people won’t need to miss work. I say go for it!

In our area (very high cost of living major city) there is no price difference for any venue or vendor between Thursday to Sunday. We prefer Friday weddings to Saturday or Sunday because they are a kickoff to the weekend and leave the rest of the weekend open. Plus they are just as festive if not more than Saturday evening. The couples who have gotten married on Fridays whose weddings we have attended said they had no problem with guests showing up, and they are given plenty of time to schedule time off from work (which is why save the dates are just as important for local guests) to make it to the ceremony on time. We chose a Friday for that same reason.

I totally agree with everything you said and a perk in my city is the price is even less expensive to choose a Friday over a Saturday.

It has been going pretty well for me. I definitely love that the price went down about $7000. I did get a few guests calling and asking why a Friday when they received their save the date but I kindly told them I could give their invitation to someone else. The only thing I am worried about is Friday after work traffic. Our wedding starts at 4. How has it been going for you?

I also have a Friday wedding planned, I've been hesitant on this for quite some time. Thank you for all your comments!

Yeah, that is a very good decrease in price. So far, I am getting very good feedback about having a Friday wedding date. Most of my guests says that they will attend if Friday it's the wedding day. I am going decide rather I chose a Friday or Saturday based off of which venue I chose
