Fruit centerpieces?

Tracey, on March 1, 2010 at 8:15 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 9

I am having the hardest time with centerpiece ideas. My colors are amethyst (dark purple) and orange, with silver accents. The only orange colors I'm using are flowers, but I was thinking of using oranges (the fruit) in the centerpiece.

Has anyone done this? I don't want to slice them but I was thinking of using a tall vase and then having votive candles ... do you think this would look good?

I like the idea of oranges... I have seen it before and it seems cute.

Hillary - I think eggplants may be a bit too big. But I was thinking of using dark grapes ...

Plums - but really good ones and maybe spray them with the "shellac?" stuff to keep them looking good.

If you use fake grapes that look very real, check out the Dollar Tree.com right now--really cute; really cheap! I think it's a super cute idea. I'm using them for my winery-venue-wedding! I vote yay!

I thought about using plums, too but they also might be a bit larger than I want. I'm thinking of using a cylinder glass vase that would fit maybe 4-5 oranges and then fit the grapes in as filler.

I talked with FH about it and he's skeptical but he likes the idea because its different. I'm probably going to do a trial in the next couple months ... I will post pics when I do!

    Thanks for everyone's ideas!

Possibly another idea i am hoping to try is using limes in a cylinder vase and adding enough water to make them float a little then i am also adding a floating candle on top to add some extra lighting.
