Overrated. Many time you can BYOB and have someone bartend for your wine and beer or open BYOB.

Underrated! I'm for all alcohol options that guests don't pay for. Open bar is the best. Everyone's a winner.

Overrated. BYOB is sufficient and saves money.

I'm curious-- Why do sooo many people assume people will be getting trashed because more than free beer and wine are available? It is extremely rare that a venue that supplies alcohol will allow anything but mixed drinks ie no shots.

Quite honestly some people will drink more and care less about sobriety because it's "just beer"

Underrated! It's not even a question. You are traveling quite a distance and are an over 21 adult coming to celebrate my FH and I. Full open bar.

I wouldn’t say a full open bar is overrated because it’s a nice touch! But beer & wine are fine.

Underrated I’m having a destination wedding in JA and my guest care enough about me to pay to travel to another country so oh course full top shelf open bar to thank them for Coming! Now I also say know your audience if you have a beer and wine crowd go heavy on that and maybe buy 1 vodka, rum, 1 scotch , 1 tequila if you can afford it.

Overrated because we have family members who get crazy drunk and we don't want that at our wedding

Neither. We will be serving beer and wine as our venue won’t allow anything else.

Underrated. We’re having an open bar keeping the “liquor” to two signature cocktails so guest don’t have unlimited liquor but at least a couple fun cocktails to choose from in addition to beer and wine.

My fiance and I have found a middle ground, We a bought two kegs for our guests (served behind bar) and then other drinks are a cash bar. They can get trashed for free or on their dime for fancy drinks.

Overrated we are doing free drinks for beer, wine and soda. There will also be free fruit punch at our wedding. The majority of our guest understood that if they would like to drink something other than what is free of cost they can but they will have to pay for it. My fiancé and I are paying for our own wedding and our guests understand..

Overrated, I don’t drink so our special day isn’t going to be centered around free booze. We will have some but the rest will be byob or just enjoy the night without getting drunk

So I don’t believe in people paying for anything at your wedding. But I don’t think liquor is a must have. That’s just my opinion. I think you have to think of the people you’re dealing with. If they’re drinkers then yeah I get it It’s huge extra charge though and if you’re anything like my family, they’ve already came to the wedding drunk 🤷‍♀️Lol

I am having a brunch wedding on a Wednesday. Ceremony at 10:30am and reception at 12pm. I want to give each table 2 bottles of champagne. Is open bar necessary for a brunch wedding? I dont want to be the cause of drinking and driving midday.

Underrated, but not necessary. Our venue doesn't allow liquor, so our open bar will be wine and beer. Most everyone invited drinks wine anyways, so I'm not worried about it.

Overrated. My FH and I, along with most of our guests are not big drinkers and the ones that are drinkers, go overboard, get sloppy and cause problems. We will be having signature cocktails and wine for the first two hours of our reception then having everything removed and replaced with tea, soda, water and juices so that anyone that does drink, will have time to sober up by the time they need to drive home.
