Full Service Catering Question

Lexi, on November 27, 2022 at 5:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Hello everyone!

My fiancé and I are wanting to have a buffet style dinner for our wedding. We want to cater a BBQ place that we are certain is gluten-free, as I have Celiac disease so trusting a random caterer is hard. The problem I'm concerned about is that the BBQ place is too far to include "full-service" catering. My fiancé thinks it should be simple enough to have a sign with how much everyone can have. We expect around 80 guests and I feel like this might not be a good idea, but I also haven't attended many weddings nor has he so we're just looking for some input!

Thanks in advance!

See if you can hire servers external from the BBQ place. As a general rule, people aren't good about only taking as much as they are "allowed." Plus, if you say a "spoonful of coleslaw" (for example), you'll have people who do huge mounded scoopfuls.

We went to a wedding at which people helped themselves to the buffet and they ran out of some foods.

I hadn't thought about hiring third-party servers, but that's a great idea! Do you happen to know how would I go about finding a company for this? I'm not sure the type of vendor this would be considered.

Browse Thumbtack.com or Google for event staffing. They will do anything you need: set up, serving, tear down.

But having servers at the buffet table is ideal because people rarely serve themselves efficiently. Especially if you plan to have guests go through the line more than once.

Hello Congratulations on your upcoming wedding now what I know about some bbq places. Is that they dont do gluten free food and by you having a special situation that you may have a gard time. With that so what I will suggest is that on this app go to the search engine and type that in where you live. Or where your wedding reception will be held at and see if you find any and when you speak with a vendor ask them these questions and hopefully they will be able to help you on what you need. I hope that this helps you
