Fun Places to Pop the Question?

What are the most romantic, wild, weird or wonderful places you've heard of people popping the question? What about your proposal? Mine was a surprise destination! I had no idea. None. My hubby is quite the trickster and planned spontaneous trips before. He wanted a day trip for his b-day. Great....

Mine was a surprise destination! I had no idea. None. My hubby is quite the trickster and planned spontaneous trips before. He wanted a day trip for his b-day. Great. Then he wanted to spend the night (we hadn't had a vaca in a year). Yay. The day-of he told me to take out liquids, we were getting on a plane. Wait, what? We deplaned, drove a car to... Scottsdale, AZ. WOW. When the gorgeous Omni upgraded us to a freakin' villa I thought it was his b-day karma!!! After dinner there he convinced me to walk over to a fireplace to sit and relax (I was complaining my shoes hurt--lol). He proposed by the fireplace. Stunned, I said "YES!"

Naturally genuine is good too! Whatever fits you both as a couple. And probably a surprise because you probably weren't expecting it? It's sweet to shed a tear of joy in private too.

I got engaged in Scottsdale too! I actually live in the Phoenix area though so it was a normal place for us. I actually knew it was coming. We had been talking about getting engaged when my fiancé found out his dad’s cancer was advancing quickly so we planned to get married about three weeks after we found out so he could see us married. He only lasted a week after we found out. We had already bought temporary wedding rings on Etsy until we could afford real rings and he wanted an engagement ring too. I told him since we have the rings I would still like a real proposal. We go to Odysea Aquarium in Scottsdale a lot so we had planned on going. He wore a shirt with pocket and put his engagement ring in it. Well I accidentally found his engagement ring so I knew it was coming, but he waited until we were alone at the aquarium and proposed by the moon jellyfish tank. It was still a cute proposal even though I ruined it. 😆

I didn’t mention it was a dinner cruise, but he had done this all before all the other guest boarded the riverboat. So we were on the boat for quite sometime. The “tour” was made up and just part of his plan to get me to the top of the boat lol.

Thank you for posting this question. Your proposal was so romantic and I’ve loved reading everyone’s story. Mine was not very romantic but very heartfelt. I have been married before and have two grown children that are an important part of my life. My husband had never been married and wanted to make sure my kids were included so he arranged to have an early thanksgiving dinner (because we were leaving for vacation) and he invited not only my kids and their significant others but my favorite cousin and his wife and another couple we are super close to. After our friend said the blessing before dinner he asked if anyone had anything else to say and that’s when my husband had his speech prepared and got down on one knee to propose. He had already asked not only my parents but my kids to marry me. I was so happy to have my kids involved, even though it was “romantic”. 😊

My FILs proposal story is like that too, my fiance's dad wanted to take his now-wife to a fancy dinner and such but when she got home from work, he just couldn't wait! I love their proposal story Smiley heart

Mine was a complete surprise but he did it perfectly and at one of our favorite places. The Bean in Chicago! He is super shy so the fact that he got down on one knee in front of hundreds of people was amazing. Everyone cheered and we were bombarded with people wanting to get our picture afterwards.

Well apparently the story of that was not as magical lol. First he was making calls, they were not helpful. When we got to the park he asked to speak to a supervisor. They were super helpful but thought he meant in front of the castle in magic kingdoms fireworks show. So then he had to talk again to someone to make sure they had everything ready to go in Hollywood studios. Because they messed up they took things up a notch for him. There was a lot of interdepartmental talking and arranging is what he told me. And since no one ever chooses Hollywood studios they were also all super excited.

T his is one of the pictures...it was supposed to be right in front of the fireworks show but people were telling us we had to sit down(we didn’t because of all of his arranging but normally that is the case) I hate being on the spot so I moved us lol (which of course he tried his hardest to tell me why we didn’t have to move without giving it away). What is funny is I remember the photo pass guy jumping over people to follow us and wondering why there was a random photo pass person.

In regard to the skydiving thing...I do not know but I can Only imagine I would totally not be paying attention due to being in sheer terror lol

This is sooooo sweet and considerate! The fact that he included your grown kids in this way is incredibly thoughtful. I think the way he included your family, during a "thankful" holiday family dinner, is indeed romantic!

I love reading about everyone's proposals!

We were at the Winspear Opera House in Dallas, going to go see an opera with a couple friends of ours. FH was the only one of us who'd been there before, so we went upstairs to "check out the view" before the opera. Lol I got a pretty good view when I turned back around and he was down on one knee. Smiley laugh Smiley heart Usually I'm the type of person who doesn't want any sort of audience around, but I'd always wanted pictures of the exact moment, and the fact that he picked those friends to be the ones there was perfect. Smiley smile

I've never been there. What an artsy spot and very romantic that it's one of your favorite places. Because he's so shy, this might be a "wild" engagement story for your fiance! I think proposing must be nerve-wracking enough... let alone in front of a crowd. Gulp. That must have surprised you.

Love his creative planning of the upstairs location, and having friends there to capture the moment. Plus, both of you were dressed up! Who could resist a man in a handsome tux proposing (or lady in a stunning dress proposing)??? This kind of proposal would certainly happen in a Hallmark TV movie.

Your story could be called... "The magic that almost didn't happen." Tee hee. Happily, it all worked out. Any Disney decor in your wedding???

Skydiving... I wouldn't be paying attention either. And I would not appreciate a photo of that moment cuz I'd either 1) have ugly screaming face or 2) be puking.

I would have both! 🤣 yes! We are doing a Disney Christmas wedding. So far we have Disney table numbers, a Disney cake, we took Disney engagement photos, we have quotes on our wedding website, we will have a Disney photo booth, I have Disney shoes, we will have our ring bearer and flower girl as beauty and the beast, among other things lol

I love reading everyone's stories! So romantic and sweet!

My love took me by complete surprise. He had been planning it for awhile without me knowing.

We had planned a cruise for July but he didn't want to wait that long so he convinced me to do a mini trip for Memorial Day weekend. We went camping at a state park a few hours from where we live. He researched activities and hikes and knew he wanted to propose at the top of the hardest hike at the park with the most amazing view.

After a long drive, a long wait to get into the park, and setting up camp, he is all fired up and is like, what do you want to do babe? I suggested we go sit in the river for awhile, and he says, what about those hikes? I look at him like he is crazy, it's 3 in the afternoon in Texas. Way too hot to hike. I tell him I think we should do the hikes first thing in the morning before it gets too hot. He suggests we do the hardest hike at night to see the sunset. I agree and say we can do that Sunday night, and he says, or tonight. In my head I think he is being hilarious dying to go on a super hard hike in the insane heat. Little did I know.

We had planned to go around 7 but he is so anxious he gets me to agree to go at 5 pm. We go hike up the mountain and it is no joke. Straight up, little shade, essentially climbing a rocky path. We have to stop several times for water breaks. We get to the top and I make jokes about this is where I die and go to lay down on the blanket we spread out. He tells me not to sit down yet and pulls me up for a big hug.

Before I know it he is down on one knee with the ring out. I immediately start to cry. He doesn't do a long speech but what he says is perfect. And he tells me asked my kids the night before and they emphatically said yes.

We were completely alone for the moment which was awesome but shortly after another hiker came by and when my fiance told him we just got engaged he insisted we re-create the shot. I'm so glad he did!

It’s called the winsome grace. It was a really old church building that was refurbed into a venue. It’s so old that it has secret rooms and passageways! It’s pretty cool. The only thing I do Not like is that it is smaller so we can only invite 120. However we loved the building so much we are willing to compromise.

Look at that view! So glad the hiker told you guys to re-create the moment. This is a keeper pic, for sure.

lol. He must have been relieved you didn't protest more. My feet hurt from my shoes and my hubby had us take pics around the resort before dinner (now looking back, I know why!). After dinner I just wanted to go to back to our room. I tried to protest a few times about my feet but his romantic request to sit by the fireplace for a few minutes was too hard to pass up. I didn't want to be a party pooper. Glad you weren't either although I would not be up for hiking in heat. Way to go, girl!
