Fun welcome party ideas?

SpringBride23, on September 18, 2018 at 5:48 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 9
So we want to do a fun welcome party for our guests (all of them out of town), and we are having trouble thinking of something. Our wedding venue is 1.5 hours from home and we are heading down to the area that Saturday morning, so we are not able to host the party at our house. We will have around 50 people, and we originally wanted to do a suite at a baseball game where people could just come and go, but it turns out there are no games the Saturday we are having the party. Any fun ideas?

We are renting out a restaurant for a few hours and having people come and go.

Bowling, Minigolf, Arcade, something more in nature like a bbq and games outside? I have my "rehearsal" dinner at a baseball game and it was super fun.

Look at Stardust skating rink? That's always a popular place and let's you tap into the nostalgia of middle school skating parties, and there's snacks there too!

You could do a brewery night at Mandeville Beer Garden, it's super chill there!

If you want to go ALL OUT you could visit Dark Side Comics and Games and have a board game night, they have an amazing library of games to pick from and I am almost sure you can bring in snacks for a small fee.

If you live in the area, or could get there early, a scavenger hunt of downtown would be amazing if you could put one together!!

Our wedding is in St. Pete Beach and we’re having our casual welcome party at the Treasure Island Sunset Beach Pavilion. I know that’s a bit far for you, but you can check towns down by Sarasota and see if any of them have a similar space you can rent out.

I don't know about Sarasota-specific, but if you like the baseball idea, you could always go to a local park and have your own baseball/kickball game. Or other lawn games like cornhole. People can join or leave as they please, switch teams if they want, and as the hosts, you and your FS could serve as umpires so you'd have the chance to speak with people coming and going. Smiley smile

Love these ideas. This was exactly the post I was going to post. We will be in Princeton but we were thinking a similar thing of buying baseball tickets/renting some bowling lanes and then advertising it as a cash bar. Glad others are on the same page and thanks for other ideas like renting pavilions for a kick ball game or seeing about a beer garden or such.
