Fun/Unique Bridal Shower

Sarah, on March 22, 2017 at 3:28 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 1

Hi All! Happy Wednesday!

Can you think of specific things from bridal showers that made it fun and entertaining? Or unique?

I ask because I’m scheduled to have 3 bridal showers! And to be clear, this is not a complaint and I am not telling them how to throw a shower. I have a wonderful family and future family who have offered to throw these showers for me, in three different cities. But I will be honest in saying I tend to find showers to be kind of boring. My hosts have asked for my opinion; what can I suggest to liven things up, and make it a fun experience for all involved? Don’t worry, there will be plenty of food and cocktails on hand! One shower I went to had a "relay race" and it was dress like a bride. So you had 3 or 4 stations and at each station, the runners had to do something else. So you'd pick your runners (2 or 3 people) and they would run to the first station to put their makeup on with NO MIRRORS (costume makeup, bright blue eye shadow, hot pink lipstick, etc) and then you run to the second station and put your veil on (cheap dollar store veils), then the 3rd station and put your dress on and get your flowers as quickly as possible (the dresses were actually just chunks of unused fabric that you'd wrap around you like a toga and fasten with a belt or window curtain rope). The first one to take a picture with the groom wins. The groom would be the 4th station and you'd sit on his lap and take a picture. The host would have some sort of gift for whoever won this. I think the host had a bottle of wine or perfume or something like that. We also played a game where you and your partner, team member, friend, etc. would race to wrap each other in toilet paper to make your wedding dress, the first team done wins a prize. And then the ring game. Everyone gets a fake plastic ring (we got them at hobby lobby) and if you're caught saying "bride" or something similar, someone can take your ring away. The person with the most fake rings at the end of the shower also wins a prize. It was pretty cute and a lot of fun. It meant that people who didn't know each other had to interact and talk.
