Fur stoles/wraps/shawls?

Eri, on August 23, 2020 at 3:14 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4

I originally planned on getting grey or silver pashminas for my bridesmaids.

My wedding is in October in Cleveland, and the weather at that time of year can be anywhere from hot and sunny to cold and snowy or stormy, and everything in between.

After recently showing a few of my bridesmaids the pashminas that I was looking at, they weren't a fan of the fringe, and are liking the idea of faux fur instead.

I never really considered faux fur - even though I love the way it looks - because October felt too early for it.

What do you think? If it's warm, we just won't wear them. If it's cold/windy, I expect they'll provide more warmth than the pashminas and won't have the fringe or anything blowing around. But idk if they'll still look silly, lol.

I was also a little worried about the pashmina material snagging on my dress because it is heavily beaded, and I don't think that'd be as much of a problem with the fur.

I'm also not sure what color I'd get for myself. My bridesmaids are wearing navy dresses, groomsmen will be in light grey. My dress is ivory and champagne/"light gold." Maybe like a warmer white with some natural brownish tips or something?

If you did faux fur wraps, I'd love to see your pictures!

This user was a frequent poster for a couple of years. Her winter wedding in CA wine country was gorgeous. Her wedding party wore faux fur stoles, and I think hers was vintage real fur. This is the link to her full BAM, so you have to scroll for a while to get to the photos with the stoles. https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/discussions/archive/earias-pro-bam-a-christmas-wedding-in-sonoma-pic-and-advice-heavy-vendors-and-cost-breakdown-in-comments--t1823828

I love a pashmina + formal dress look! My worry with faux fur is if it is a bit wet outside and you need to do umbrellas + those, might it look like too much? Vs. a pashmina is that good light extra layer no matter what. I’ve seen pretty faux fur wedding pics (winter in Chicago) but it’s certainly a more upscale style than my casual vibes, so consider it’s impact on your overall wedding vibe! You won’t go wrong, just my thoughts!

Thank you! I actually decided on a different option - cashmere scarves/wraps that also double as a gift, since they were quite pricey. But I think they'll look lovely and will get a lot of use after the wedding. Smiley smile
