Furniture on registry

Raiza, on March 15, 2018 at 12:34 PM Posted in Registry 0 9
Is it bad or weird to register for furniture? Like a dinning table, headboard and tv stand?

I wouldn't say it's necessarily bad but those are expensive so I wouldn't really expect people to purchase them.

I would expect that shipping on those items would be costly and most won't purchase. You're better off having a minimal registry - most will give cash/checks and you can use that for your furniture.

Nope, not weird at all. I really just wanted cash, but since my mom was insistent on me having a shower, I had to make a registry (since asking for cash is rude).

Since we’re building a house, I put house-building things on it like light switches, paints, faucets, door knobs, and furniture for the rooms I already had designed. We got our entire master bedroom set and first floor powder room furnished thanks to my bridal shower! Most of my family likes going in on big ticket items, so that’s what they did (headboard/bed frame).
Everything I got was useful and helped us save money on the actual build Smiley smile

Someone posted a while back that they put furniture on their Amazon registry because after the wedding, they get to buy whatever they want one-time at I think a 20% discount. If that's your reasoning I would go for it, but I wouldn't expect anyone to actually buy it for you.

I'm definitely planning to do something similar so I can take advantage of the completion discount!!!
Register for the furniture if that's what you need. And if you don't get it, hopefully the discount will help you afford it after the wedding.

I don’t think it’s weird becuase most registries give you a percentage off of whatever is left on your registry and you purchase it afterward .. so though no one may be you the items you can purchase them with a discount

My cousin had a headboard on her wedding registry and that's what the bridesmaid joint gift is along with a comforter. She has 6 bridesmaids including myself and it came to $65 a person, so larger items are good for group gifts.
