My fiancé’s step mom just told me she’s not coming to my bridal shower next weekend. She lives close by and she just said work has been really busy. She was originally going to come with my fiancé’s step brothers wife but she’s out of town for the shower so she won’t be attending. I’m really hurt by this and feel like their family is not making an attempt to include me. I feel like we have always made an effort with them and they don’t reciprocate. Would you be offended?

    I understand you're bummed that she made excuses not to come but the reason she probably isn't wanting to come is because the person she was going to go with who would make her more comfortable isn't able to go. It sucks when family can't always get along, but just try to enjoy the time of the people who can make it to your shower.

    It sounds like your hurt feelings are about way more than a bridal shower. I'm sorry you are upset. I think you should give yourself the gift of deciding not to worry who can't come (for whatever reason) and just enjoy your wedding events with who does attend. No one party can make or break a relationship. Good relationships with your future in-laws will be built slowly over many years. Focusing on this "slight" now will only hurt you later.
