Future Spouse

MK, on March 20, 2021 at 10:20 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 9

Most of these forums are based around wedding planning and advice - which I appreciate so much. But we don't talk much about our future spouses!

I celebrated my birthday this weekend and found myself feeling so full and thankful. My future husband makes me feel so loved and celebrated daily, and I (more times than not) completely take it for granted without even realizing -

What is your favorite thing about your future spouse that you may sometimes unintentionally take for granted?

Happy belated birthday!! Such a blessing to feel loved and thankful, isn’t it? You’re so right about remembering to appreciate and not take for granted.
The overall trust I have in him on a moral level I appreciate greatly. One of the main reasons I married him 💛 two things come to mind, how he never lets an argument go on too long and he likes to make up rather quickly and a small thing he always puts my coffee cup out in the morning ready for me. I really love that. 💛💛💛

My future husband is SO PATIENT. I work a really stressful job and its crazy how good he is at handling me wound up by the wedding and work. He brings flowers, gives me a hug, let's me complain while he gives me a foot message, and always has a smile and a reassuring voice.

The craziest thing is he wasn't always like this. During the pandemic, he really learned how to respond when I was stressed so it helped me calm down instead of wound me up. He used to try to tell me I was stressed over nothing and that made things so much worse lol. So I'm grateful for his patience and kindness, but also really in awe of his ability to learn and grow with me. I hope I'm doing the same for him!

I could tell you billion stories .

I'll just tell you the fact she always has my back , we are on the same page over big decisions, moral values, the boundaries we wanted to'set especially about both sets of parents.

I totally take for granted that DH knows NYC so well. I ... often don't bother to look up where we're going, because he's born and raised New Yorker.

...This becomes a problem is we have to be in a part of the city he doesn't know well! I just... assume he does. Oops.

I'm very "high octane", I overthink, I worry, I stress, I get frustrated very easily, I work super hard and DO NOT know how to slow down or relax. He is my polar opposite in all those things. He's so calm, so easygoing, he is my anchor. Sometimes I get really irritated and angry because I feel like I'm the ONLY one who worries (cares) about anything and he's TOO easygoing and trusting that everything will be fine. I'm a very strong woman who is used to carrying a very heavy load in life. I'm very glad he IS the opposite of me. If he was more like me, always stressing and all worked up and worrying over anything, we would never work. He balances me. He centers me. He forces me to relax. He lets me take the lead in almost everything because I'm a go-getter who MAKES THINGS HAPPEN and GETS THINGS DONE, and he never, ever pulls that macho card, he's not intimidated or threatened by my strength. He is patient, kind, wise, creative, and so very loving.

On my visit, he did so many brilliant things. 😍
He would refill my water before I even noticed it was low, he cooked for me, he fed me (in a cute way), he helped me down icy steps, he said he would have waited at the airport all night (it took 2 hours to get through customs), and he even brought the snuggle blanket to the airport and put the heaters on in the car so I could be warm and cosy on the long ride home. 😊

My absolute overall highlights were his insane massage skills (I felt like I had no bones! 🤩) and when I got up one night, and was crying in the bathroom with the door locked. He woke up, noticed I was missing, heard me in the bathroom, came in, joined me on the floor and held me whilst I cried, without even saying a word. 🥰
He may be a PITA (pain in the ass) as he puts it, but he truly is the most wonderful man I have ever known and I love him beyond words. 💞

My fiancé is so patient with me & can read me like a book. My birthday is on Friday but I don’t want to celebrate it. My mother died on my birthday in 2018. He tried to ask me what I wanted to do & when I said nothing, he said “ I don’t have to take you out for dinner?” No-I want nothing. I tried to mask my feelings but he knew. One look, touched my arm & I was crying. He’s my rock, especially when I’m crumbling.

    He always has my back.

He loves my mom as much as I do.

He is my rock, and will always be there - best of times and worst of times. Really. I feel like a lot of people promise that, but don't really follow through. He certainly does.

He is so patient and caring. He always knows when I'm mad or upset and is always exactly what I need - whether it's someone to vent to or a shoulder to cry on. When something he is doing or not doing is bothering me, I feel completely comfortable telling him how I'm feeling. He never takes it personally or gets defensive. We can talk about anything. I also love that we share a passion for food and traveling. I loved those things before, but they are even more fun now that I get to enjoy them with him.
