Gaining weight

I'm afraid I'm the only bride in history who has GAINED weight throughout my engagement instead of lost. I am rather overweight to begin with, but I think I've easily put on another 10 lbs. I'm afraid I'm the only bride in history who has GAINED weight throughout my engagement instead of lost. I am rather overweight to begin with, but I think I've easily put on another 10 lbs. Stress and emotional eating ...being separated physically from my fiancé (I'm in Japan, he's in San Diego), my job hunt, his job...ahh!!! It's just too much. I don't feel like this is the "most special time". It feels like the most STRESSFul time. Anyone else feeling a little non-bridal? I'm not even looking forward to dress shopping because of how "big" I feel. I'm 5'6" and 225 lbs last I checked.

I agree walking does tend to melt away stress in a way that treadmills and ellipticals don't. I feel good after a day at the gym but yea--walking gives you the natural vitamin D, fresh air..

I lost almost 100 lbs right before I met FH... And I've gained about 25 back in the last 2 years. FH likes his dinner, and I eat a lot more with him than I did before I met him. Lol

It is what it is. He will still love you. And you'll still be a beautiful bride! Work on the stress first, then you can worry about the rest!

You are definitely not alone. I'm sorry that its a very stressful time for you but think of the positives that are going to be coming your way. You get to spend the rest of your life with the man you love. Don't look at dress shopping as a chore, bring some girlfriends and make it a fun filled day! Be sure to get some cocktails and food afterwards.

Beutivant and Danielle- I hear exactly what you're saying. When I was single, I hated dating. Nothing ever worked out (now I realize why, thank God). But the thing I always thought --and it was terribly unhealthy--- was that it didn't work out because I was overweight. I've never been skinny. I look back on old photos now and think "wow! I was thinner then!"...but I probably wasn't 100% happy with my weight even then. It's relative but I am at my heaviest and I just plain hate this feeling of carrying around all the excess. I plan to start getting serious and making better choices not just for the wedding but for myself.

I def gained. My summer clothes are a little tight right now.

I just told myself that after the wedding, I can get back to re aligning myself, and I have been. Before the wedding, I was snacking at the house I nanny in to the point where my stomach hurt. I broke my finger 2 months before and could not lift, it was a mess.

Wedding planning takes such a toll on you, you are not alone.

Just focus on what the day means, and do what you can now. Self care is so important.

Nope. Not the only one. I've gained about 5. I've been trying to lose weight but it has been to stressful. Right now I'm just hoping to maintain until the wedding and work on losing the weight afterwards.

You're not alone. In March my dress didn't fit me, by several inches. My corset was smaller than my back. I had to lose 15+ lbs and fast. In just 4 weeks I did it! The important thing is that FH loves me and thinks I'm beautiful no matter what! The stress from planning the wedding, job stress, FH's job stress, it's a stressful time. The thing that's helped me is my test results and doctors words. I'm quite overweight and FH and I want to TTC after our 1 year anniversary. I'm going to need that year or more to get the weight off. I've got about 60 to go that I wanted to lose before the wedding, I stopped stressing about losing for the wedding and have taken a new approach that helps both FH and I with our weightloss. My doctor told me I would be a high risk pregnancy if I didn't lose the weight and that's helping us both. We want to be healthy for each other, we want our future children to be healthy and we want to be healthy for our future children. Your FH will still love you, but if you really want to lose the weight,

you have time to do it. Find something that motivates you, even if that one thing is small or not even in the picture yet. It's helped us!

I'm right there with ya. I bought my dress at an off the rack sale last February and gained about 20 pounds since then. I tried it on last week and it doesn't fit Smiley sad. I've been working out and eating better since the beginning of May and then after finding out my dress doesn't fit I kicked it up a notch. I'm hoping I will get there, but I've decided to get a back up dress just in case. It is supposed to be a happy time and I don't want to be miserable stressing out about it.

Not alone I'm 5'4 not sure what I weigh but I refuse to check. I have PCOS and it makes it difficult to lose weight. My only saving grace is I work at a warehouse so lots of walking. Now I just need to change my eating habits which are terrible but it's so hard!!! Lol

I gained weight between our engagement last year and this year. Now I'm losing. I hate the way I look now and I would be disappointed if I didn't even try to lose weight before our wedding. Right after getting engaged we started going to the gym regularly and then binge eating took over once again. There's no time like now to get started.. Even if it's not about losing weight.. Just feeling beautiful and confident in general.

I've been losing it but only because I signed myself up for a 5k and didn't want to look like a complete fool so I was forced to start jogging in the morning. I wound up only looking like a semi-fool. (yay me!) FH got a new job at the beginning of the year where he does physical stuff all night so he's melted off like 45 lbs. Color me jelly.
