Hello everyone! I just got engaged and we are looking to do a gamer/geek wedding. However we dont want it to look like a hot mess of crazy ideas. I have looked on Pinterest and found really cool ideas. Our wedding is in 2018 in order to save money for our perfect day. We want to do it right, but not spend a fortune. Can anyone provide any ideas to narrow our theme down? Thank you in advance!

We are having a videogame song as our processional music and we will have little figurines scattered around our photo displays. Probably will figure out more details as the day gets closer. We also got engaged at a Pokemon concert Smiley smile

Oh, I really hope my FH never peers over my shoulder and sees this thread. I know he'd be so jealous!

We are doing a 'comic con' themed wedding, based on this wedding: http://greenweddingshoes.com/star-wars-inspired-wedding-jennifer-joshua/

It's a formal wedding, with little touches. Our STDs and our invitations are Lord of the Rings (The Evenstar and the gates of moria...if you aren't a geek, they just look like a pretty wedding arch and an art deco sort of design).

Our music is all based off sci fi themes (except our first song, which is John Legend). I'm walking down the aisle to May it Be by Enya, which is Arwens theme. The recessional is the music from the awards ceremony in Star Wars, our bridal party is being introduced to the Doctor Who theme, and we're being introduced to the Farscape theme. Our cocktail hour music is Lindsey Stirling, Taylor Davis, and Critical Hit. The first two are violinists who do amazing covers of sci fi and video game themes, and Critical Hit does video game music to kind of a rock beat. Check them out on youtube. If you know the music you'll recognize it, if you don't, it just sounds like classical violin.

Our photobooth is a TARDIS, and our centerpieces are lanterns with pictures of our favorite sci fi couples inside them. Each table will have a different couple (10 and Rose, Han and Leia, Arwen and Aragorn) and be named after a related place, like Gallifrey, Middle Earth, etc. instead of numbered (we hope, our venue seems kind of hung up on their numbers).

The groomsmen are all wearing ties and cufflinks of FHs favorite fandoms, (we found a vendor at comic con that can stamp an emblem on any tie, so everyone will have a uniform purple tie to match my bridesmaids, but with an emblem stamped (I'm not sure the proper word for it, but its like burned into the silk) and my attendants will have necklaces of mine with a corresponding charm in my bouquet. We are also going to have our photographer do some trick shots and photoshop in some our favorite sci fi themes for our album.

Our cake is also similar to the one on the first page, with the front a classic wedding cake with purple flowers, and the back all sci fi (one tier is the Van Gogh TARDIS, one tier the death star trench, one tier a DRD from Farscape, and one tier the tree of Gondor inside the one ring).

Stay tuned, I'll let you know how it goes.

Unless you're going full-out cosplay wedding (in costume, etc) then the easiest way is with decor. Either pick 1 continuous theme, like LOTR or a fave game for everything, or stick to stuff that's supposed to be varied (centerpieces, escort cards, table numbers), small things (cake topper) and temporary things (music, toast jokes).

@altovise - We are using water beads for the "liquid" and adding water. Some of the beads are blue, some clear, and some a light purple. Our colors are navy and gray, with light blue accents (and apparently purple beads... mainly because I bought them from another bride and they were mixed together, and I don't want to sort through them all! LOL)

We also have submersible tealights in the bottom of the vases. Smiley smile
