Gap in between Ceremony and Reception

Ceremony is to start at 2pm (church wouldn’t allow any later) so we would be finished around 3-3:30p. Wasn’t planning on starting cocktail hour till about 530p … do you think the gap is too large ?

Yes, it is a Catholic wedding. A lot of my family has had gaps in their wedding day. But if I can control it the slightest I don’t want our guest to be waiting too long. I have noticed a lot of people having everything in one location which would then make sense as to not having a gap bc why would you leave a place that you have to come back to.

We had a Catholic wedding that didn't (intentionally) have a gap. Our ceremony was 2:30, started cocktail hour at 4ish, reception was supposed to start at 5 but we ended up getting there at 6 😬 at least they had cocktail food lol. Our reception was at a waterfront park so we weren't restricted as to when we could start.

This. 💯 percent. Gaps are just so inconvenient.

I definitely would try to shorten the gap

We have a gap to because our wedding is outside ceremony and reception is inside but we have to start at 5pm because of a prior event that will be happening and my people can't get inside and to start setting up until 12:30 -1pm. The first time it was at 2pm but now it's in the evening

I’m having a Catholic ceremony at church. It’s at 3 pm. Our priest said it should take about 45 minutes. Our venue is right up the street so we are starting cocktail hour at 4, and getting pics done so we’ll miss that. 5 or so starts reception, and ends around 9.
