Garter removal and toss

Shelly, on November 29, 2020 at 8:11 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 17
Have you seen anyone do a garter toss without the garter removal? FH is too shy lol. Obv we can forgo the whole thing but I do have this gorgeous garter set I purchased awhile back before he told me this.

I personally have never seen one without the other, but that doesn't mean that it can't be done! I think it would be totally fine to do just the toss.

I've never seen it but that doesn't mean it can't be done. My husband doesn't like attention either so we decided that we won't be doing one altogether

Maybe you can give it to him to stick in his pocket during cocktail hour then have him throw it after or before the boquet

Never seen it but I’m sure it’s possible. Either have him keep it in his pocket or keep it in the bridal room until it’s time.

I didn’t have a garter removal because I don’t like to be on display lol. I took it off and passed it to my husband and proceeded with the toss as normal.

If it's just a matter of the garter set . . . you can wear it just for FH

Never seen it done that way, but it’s your day! We think the entire thing is corny so we skipped it and glad we did! 😆

If it's really nice, maybe consider doing a boudoir shoot? That's private but you still get some use out of them.

You can do do anything you want. No one says you have to have a removal in public though. Another option is a lingerie photoshoot.

Yes I actually have seen this. The bride wasn’t comfortable having it removed from her leg but still wanted to do it because she wanted it to be even (single ladies, single guys). She had her second garter put on a football and the best man gave the football to the groom to throw. The people who caught the bouquet and garter got small gifts instead of the usual put the garter on the new girl thing. It was unique!

    Yeah, totally seen this.

The bouquet toss is less creepy, so I've seen it done without the garter.

We didn't do either, and, though I bought a garter, I wasn't wearing it under my dress. Too itchy!

I think most people are moving away from the garter toss completely, while the bouquet toss is still somewhat popular.

Yes, I've seen this done! It makes it less of a cringe fest for your guests lol.

We're not doing either, because 1. We don't see it as a very important part of our wedding day and 2. We don't want to stop our guests from dancing and mingling just to watch us toss a garter and flowers lol

If your FH is a football fan, I’ve seen people put it on a football and throw the football. Also we have ruled out the whole toss thing, but I’m still considering wearing one for a couple of pics/to show FH later.

I've seen them done at a couple of weddings I've been to in the past, but I haven't seen it recently at the weddings my husband and I have been to within the last year or so. I'm not sure if it's because people are moving away from doing this or some people just don't want to do it. Personally, I'm not a fan of the garter toss and we didn't do it at my wedding because I don't like being the center of attention, lol.

You can just take it off and give it to him beforehand!

Most of the weddings I’ve been to have not had a garter toss or removal. Just the bouquet toss.
